Question about Kenwood KW85 Air Conditioner

4 Answers

Kenwood KW85 is noisy

I bought the Kenwood airconditioner in 2005, it has worked great. I turned the unit on today, and the airconditioner is very noisy. I tried the fan, and it works fine.
What could be the potential problem. The airconditioner looks as good as new. And, the usage is very limited, as per need.
Thanks,
Cindy

Hello Cindy2,

If you havent used the machine in a while, then it is typical that it makes some noise/vibrations. It could be that there is some loose debris inside that swirls around when the fan rotates. It could also be improper ballasting...(balance) causing the vibrations. Try packing material around the sides of the machine to reduce/prevent this.
There could be some kinked/bent tubing that is touching the body when the machine is run, or it could be something like a leaking compressor.
Try the basic checks first, and if the sound persists, I would recommend calling in a technician for better diagnosis.

Hope that helps,
IrishDruid

Hi,

I completely agree with Pauldonp's solution.Unit may vibrate and make noise because of poor floor or incorrect installation.
So make sure it the unit is at the level. And another thing if the fan makes noise then the unit has to be repaired.
Anyways i have got some info which may help you out.CLICK HERE

The air conditioner could just use a good cleaning. Is the noise coming from the fan or some other part that you know of?

Please get back to me with further information on this and we will see what is exactly wrong, thanks

Hi, have you tried moving it to somewhere else as it can be noisy depending on what type of surface its on, as this can cause it to vibrate

The unit sustained an impact during shipment and was dented on the bottom. I hammered out the dent and the condensation tank fits fine and the unit is working fine as well.

Kenwood KW85 Portable Air Conditioner

Using remote control "on" the unit, then push the C button of remote control, if the C display at the unit "off" the unit using also the remote control. Unplug the power supply then plug again and start the unit using the remote control.
It the instruction above don't solve the problem, the return air sensor is out of range or the main board of the unit itself is defective. You need a qualified tech with this problem.

Start the unit and press the remote control at C if the display in the unit displays C, then turn off the unit using the remote control and plug out the ac supply. Plug the unit again and using the remote control turn on the unit. If the E4 still display there is something wrong with your air in sensor or the main board itself. Replacement of this parts needs a qualified technician.
