I too also have a timex watch, not sure what model it is. It is a woman's dress watch. It is silver with a light blue face. I have tried to get the back off like you do most watches(with a pocket knife) and I am unable to get it to pop off? What is it that I need to do in order for it to come off I need to replace the battery. HELP!!

I second the vice advice...the only thing that worked was to put it in a vice and crank it one more crank then you think is possible. You will hear a little "pop" when it snaps into place. It was the only thing that worked!

I used a C-clamp with a towel over the lens.

  • prefectman Jun 03, 2011

I did exactly what it says above, If the watch has a metal expandale bracelet, it is easier to take it off of the watch first. Listen for the "Pop" as the back snaps into place when you tighten it in the vice or you run the risk of crushing your watch. What a lot of trouble to ge the back on a watch!!!!

I filed off one edge of the back plate so it would slip past the annoying and interfering plastic tab on the wrist band. Tuck the unfiled edge under the other plastic tab and press the filed end past the other plastic tab.

I ended up putting the watch between two layers of a shop rag and tightened it in my garage vise. First try didn't work so the second try I turned the vise another /14 turn. Voilla! Stupid watch!!

How to remove stem on timex indiglo WR 30M ?

Insane as it seems, apparently the Indiglo wr30m watch stem does NOT have either a set screw or a release button. No vice needed though, just good fingernails. Pull it out one click to the 'set time' position and pull it out some more and it comes out.
