Why can't i download my pictures from my kodak easyshare camera

Before you can download pictures from a camera to a computer, you have to install the software that came with the camera. First install the software, than connect the camera and switch it on.
The computer needs to know what it should do with the new device connected to the USB port. So a driver and a program have to be in place to tell the computer, not to charge the camera, but to down;road pictures. If you lost your Kodak CD, you can download the software here:

My camera will download images to my computer

And if it does not want to download the pictures, just install Zoombrowser EX. You still can download this software from the Canon website. The drivers you need, are also there.
Without the appropriate software, no computer knows what you are connecting. We are so used to smart phones and tablets that we think all things are detected correct when connected. In the days the Powershot S3 computers still needed drivers and software. Most computers still do.

Can't insert eos 30d cd in new macbook pro...need to find software so I can upload photos, but can't find anything...

You don't need any special software to use your camera.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or, despite what I said first, you can use any photo management program such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

I cannot take pictures while connected to computer with a usb cable

Is there anything to make you think you should be able to? I took a quick look at the manual and didn't find anything to imply that. Many cameras when connected to a computer serve only as a fancy card reader, allowing you to download pictures, and not as a camera that can take more pictures.

If you see anything in the manual, please point it out to me. In the meantime, what operating system are you running on your computer? Are you using any software on the computer for remote operation of the camera?

You can download the manual and the Vivitar Experience software from here.

Consider NOT using the USB connection.

How are you connecting the camera to the PC? If you have Windows XP of Vista, You just need an USB cable, connect the camera and the computer will detect a new hardware and recommend which software you can use to open the pictures.

Getting pictures from camera to computer

Whether you're running on the PC or the Macintosh platform, to connect your camera to your computer, you need two things:
1) the most recent driver software for your computer
2) the correct wire.
1) Whatever brand of camera you have, don't rely on what CD came in the box. It still may not "match up" with your computer. Go to the website of the camera manufacturer - Canon, Nikon, etc - and look for the "support" or "download" section. Then, search your camera by exact name, number, letter, etc. - and download the most recent driver. (Mac users, if you don't find a driver, don't worry. Step 2 may be the most important for you.) Install that driver before you hook up your camera.
2) Although your camera may say it's a USB device, sometimes cameras hook up more easily with a "Firewire" cable. (It's like USB on steroids - faster, and slightly differently shaped.) If USB doesn't work, Firewire often does. Many cameras come with both options. Check your camera for different ports, and bring it with you to the computer store if you need to to make sure the Firewire cable will fit. You'll need a Firewire plug on one side, and whatever port will fit your camera on the other.
NOTE ALSO: If your camera DID work, and now it doesn't? You need to think very carefully - what changed since the last time you downloaded photos? Did you install any new software that may now be interfering with your camera driver? Particularly on Windows, which is highly sensitive, you may be experiencing a conflict. That is, your new installation has knocked your camera software out of the box.
Even if you've simply downloaded something for your browser - n add-on, even, can screw things up. So uninstall anything you might have installed in the meantime.
Hope this helps.
