Obviously the graphics card is not capable of supporting the resolution you have set so it go's blank.
Although you can set the resolution via the computer the system will not change it back when you save that setting even though you see nothing, the computer doesn’t know you can’t see anything.
You need to go into the monitors menu (a button on the monitor front panel) and set it back to a supported resolution or default.
Start at 600x800.
Once you see an image on the monitor right click the desktop go to properties then settings and slid the screen resolution bar to the right to a resolution that suits you don’t go to high or you will get the same problem.
1024x768 would probably suit you.
Hope this helps.

Tip

Set Default Windows Font to 120 DPI for use with a large HD Monitor

Most users have either a 17" TFT montior OR an older CRT of the same size which works really well on the default 96 DPI and a screen resolution of 1280 x 1024 pixels OR the default 1024 x 768

However if you have a larger HD Monitor that will allow for a much higher pixel definition in line with 1080i and 1080p Televisions you might need to increase the DPI to 120 or some other custom setting to do this you need to right click the desktop and navigate to;

Display Properties > Settings > Advanced > General and you will see the pulldown menu to change it to Large Size.

It may ask you for the Windows CD however the files that are required should already be there unless you installed the Operating system from a minimized set of cabinet files on a slipstreamed CD.

Monitor's resolution need to be increased, how?

Hi

You don't say which operating system you are using.

The monitor resolves images across a fixed range of resolutions and resfresh rates.

It is the resolution of the graphics card or graphics adapter that can be changed, not that of the monitor.

Right click on empty space on your desktop > properties > settings.

Left click and hold on the slider and slide to the right in stages.

Each resolution change offers you a test page to accept or reject.

When satisfied Apply > Yes > Ok.

To reset the Refresh Rate:

Properties > settings > Advanced > Refresh Rate.

Then restart your computer.

Be careful not to exceed the resolution/refresh rate range of your monitor (1280 x 1024) / 75.0 Hz because if you do, when you restart the computer, the monitor will be unable to resolve the image and you will get a blank screen and/or an Out Of Range error message.

An out of range problem might only be resolved by using a different monitor to reset the resolution back to within the range of the preferred monitor.

Hope this helps

I have samsung syncmaster 740nw how can i increase screen resolution to 1024x768?

you cannot set the resolution to 1024x768 but instead try 1280x720 or if you have graphics card try to set the resolution using its custom resolution by setting 1280x768.
It will surely solve your problem.

How do you change the resolution to 1920x1200?

I'm assuming that you're using either Windows Vista, or XP, and that your graphics car does support 1920x1200. You should double check to make sure that your card can support the higher resolution.

You should go to your desktop, find a blank space, and right click. Somewhere on the context menu, there should be an item that says either "personalize", or "properties." If you're using XP, it will pop up a menu, and you should browse through the tabs to find the one that controls the resolution. This will probably be in the appearance tab.

On vista, you will be taken into a control panel sub-menu. Click on Display Settings, and it will pull up a window that will allow you to alter your resolution.

If neither of these methods allow you to increase the resolution, and you're certain that your card supports the higher resolution, then you will need to get the new monitor. The operating system (or graphics drivers) will automatically pick up the new display settings once you install the larger screen, and the option should become available. If it still does not work, search for display drivers that correspond with your model of monitor.

My monitor is stuck in the lowest resolution

Distorted video after increasing the resolution in Windows. The resolution has been set higher than what is supported by the monitor, ... we recommend 640 x 480 with 256 colors or the lowest available setting.
Computer always boots into Windows safe mode. When booting into safe mode, the lowest settings are used, including your video card. This means that the resolution is 640x480, 16 colors when in safe mode.
