Question about Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

My thermostat is set on 72....but shows it is 76 in the house. I shut it off yesterday in case it was freezing up. 2 hours later, turned it back on and it cooled great the rest of the evening. I woke up at 3:00 am this morning and was doing the same thing. I shut it off for several hours, now has cool air blowing, but not as cool as it should and still shows 76. Cool flashing on the thermostat.

It sounds as thought the coils on the unit need to be cleaned, make sure it is draining, if it still freezes up after cleaning coils and checking for draining then the unit has a leak and needs to fixed/charged. Hope this helps tim

I have a Coleman Presidential II in my mobile home and it is summer time and I have my thermostat set to 76 and my unit keeps running even though my the temp is showing it is 72 in the house.

It could possibly be in the unit but my first guess would be in the tstat or the wire. If the compressor contactor was sticking the coil would freeze because I don't think the blower would continue to run. Check the wire near the unit for rodent damage or simply dry rotted. Therefore the wires are touching each other and not shutting off. Also be sure your tstat is not overshooting the set point because it is trying to get to your humidity set point. This is referred to as temperature droop. Also verify it does not have a minimum run time. Good luck

Thermostat does not reach programmed temperature

Have you checked with a thermometer to see if the area is reaching the temp you have it set at? A thermostat has nothing to do with the temp in your house. If you have it set at a temp for Example ( 72 ) and it is not reaching that temp to shut off then you have a problem with your unit or insulation in house. If you set stat on cool at 72 and the house gets down lower than 72 then there is a problem with stat.

Honeywell thermostat "In Recovery" Message?

In recovery only shows on programmable stats. It refers to the adaptive recovery when using the programming. Over time the stat will learn how long it takes to cool or heat to the programmed set point. For example, if during the day the programming is set to 80?, and at 4:30 the programming drops to 76?, if it takes 2 hours for the temperature to reach 76?, it will learn that it takes 2 hours and eventually it will start turning on at 2:30 so that at 4:30 the temperature is satisfied instead of at 6:30, at which point it is no longer in recovery

When gets to temp. shuts off and few mins later kicks back on it keeps doing this

make shur that the thermostat is not above the a heat sourse also some of the t-stats have a ajustment in them that allow you to change the on off zone for e.g. you set it to come on at 72 and it shuts off at 76, the more hight end modles are the ones that allow to to do that

Readings disappear on thermostat for awhile then come back

Hi Linda,

There are a few things that cause this:

  1. When the heat is starting, it will sometimes go blank for a few minutes and then resume.
  2. Most have batteries, replace them with fresh new ones, if the electricity goes out while you are away, the batteries will keep the settings.
  3. Have someone check the house when it is extremely cold or hire a service to monitor. Your alarm company can usually add temperature sensors to your home, it will add a little safety net for you.
Hope this was helpful, please rate my answer.
Thanks,
Paul
