SOURCE: We have a Great Lakes spa with a Balboa control

Contact Balboa's Customer support department directly at 800-645-3201, follow the prompts to customer tech support (or press 0 and ask for customer support). You will need to be at the spa, control panel open and ready to read off the chip number, and you will need to be proficient with a test meter (AC voltage). The SN error is related to a bad sensor(s), but can also indicate a failed board. An incorrect sensor set will also create this problem, so confirm you used the exact or compatible replacement. If the SN code issue is no longer a problem, but the spa is still not heating, look and see if the heater led is on. If it is, you likely have some burned relays on the board, which can be replaced cheaper than replacing the board. If you need more help, email me at info@coastsideservices.com

My side by side on the temp door reads 5y CE. I unplug and replug and it is ok for awhile

Thank you for your question, Friend.

Typically error code SY CE, is commonly referred to an issue between the main control board and the user interface (the control on the Freezer door). A tech would typically check the communication wiring wires between both parts to determine the cause of the error code. If the wiring is correct, then more than likely you are looking at a faulty main control board or user interface. Regrettably, this is not a simple DIY job. I would highly recommend reaching out to an expert technician to ensure the appropriate replacement part is ordered and is installed correctly to prevent future issues. I hope this information helps to some degree - thanks for your question, and please do not hesitate to reconnect. - Z

i would double check the power a dryer runs on 220 volts if it is only getting 110 volts it will only run half of the dryer,, that means it could have power to the motor and light but not the control panel or vise versa 75% of the time when i work on a issue like this that is what it turns out to be,, take the cover off of the back of the unit where the plug goes in you will see three screws that the plug is held on with you will need a tester that reads 220 volts put one lead of the tester on the left screw and the othe on the right screw you should read 220 volts,, if not put one lead on the center screw and touch the other lead ont the other screws one at a time until you find which one doesnt read 110 volts,, if it reads the full 220 volts then you will need to check all the wires inside,, if all is ok you will need to replace the main control board

Ok,if you knew enough to check resistance, and your meter showed an ohm reading, not "OL", then check to see if they both are getting voltage. If not, simply check to see if you are getting power TO the board, (I assume you mean the temp control board) and OUT. If power comes in, but does not come out, change the board. If you are not getting power to the board, check the high limit. (over temp safety)

The fan in the engine is not running, is that how that model runs?

The fan should come on as the engine warms up about 10 minutes after starting if it does not come on there is a problem. There are two possibilities the fan relay is bad (locate and replace) or the fan temp.sensor on the top of the engine is bad, do a continuity test on the fan temp.sensor after the car warms up it should read zero if not repalce the switch. It is doubtful the electric fan itself is bad but it maybe just introduce 12 volts to the fan grounding it with a jumper wire to check.

Readings disappear on thermostat for awhile then come back

Hi Linda,

There are a few things that cause this:

  1. When the heat is starting, it will sometimes go blank for a few minutes and then resume.
  2. Most have batteries, replace them with fresh new ones, if the electricity goes out while you are away, the batteries will keep the settings.
  3. Have someone check the house when it is extremely cold or hire a service to monitor. Your alarm company can usually add temperature sensors to your home, it will add a little safety net for you.
Hope this was helpful, please rate my answer.
Thanks,
Paul

GE JKP45 double wall oven shuts off

This sounds like a loose connection (solder joint) on the main control board. I had one that had a similar problem. checked the price of a control board $350. I took the control panel off, took the board apart and found a loose connection on one of the relays. resoldered the bad connection. oven works fine now.

I am assuming that element does not come on at all...

A good place to start is the temperature probe . If it is Reading too high, its signal the control board that it does not need to heat.

Alternately the control board may not be acting properly.
