Question about Dell DimensionTM E520 PC Desktop

Hi my desktop dell E520 for the last 3 days have not been working. there was no error message the day i turned it of however now when i turn the computer on it comes up with a message saying ' floppy disketteseek failure strike the f1 key to continue or f 2 to run the set up utility i continue with pressing f1 ans then it says you can attempt to repair with orignal setup cd rom then select r to start i do this many times and it jus returns back to the point where i have to press r. the big black wire at the back is slightly lose i dont know if this is having an affect however when it is taken out the desktop swtiches itself off automatically so id assume this is not a real issue to do with why the desktop will not return to its official start up page

SOURCE: strike F1 to continue, F2 to run the setup utility

Got to BIOS by pressing F2,check or any floppy setting and disable it even in boot order setup.This will solve your problem otherwise replace the lithium CMOS battery.

As you have reset the BIOS setting to it's default setting.Floppy drive is enable by default whether your system have a physical floppy drive or not.

you can try this steps to resolve your issue:
1. clean your disc drive with white cloth and alcohol
2. try to re-install the OS
3. if this won't work try to download another boot disk like EBCD
or ask a friend to create you a boot disc and try to boot your computer with it.

- This can rule out or confirm a Bad Windows OS disc, thus let's you install you Windows OS in the process.

4. try to re-install again the OS

maybe the floppy disk drive is defective or maybe the IDE cable is deffective, or maybe the cable on the floppy drive is not properly inserted , try to replace IDE cable of the floppy drive if still the symptoms happens replace the floppy drive

I have a Dell Dimension E520 that has an error that is 3 lights number 1 2 3.

I turned off the Dell Dimension e520 before a storm. I have tried numerous times to turn it back on, only to have a yellow flashing light. How can I get my computer to turn on?

1. Do you have a voltage regulator in your computer set. 2. Do you hear a beeping sound everytime you turn your computer on after the incident happened? 3. Does the processor fan still runs after turning your PC on or not? 4. Kindly provide your computer specs.

You can use the Windows restore point as one way. Just pick the last good point. If that doesn't work then you can use the recovery cd that came with the system. Hope this helps.

Dell pc giving blue screen -issue with recent Windows update?


Dear SherriJ:

Some time you might get this issues with the updates if they doesn't install properly or the computer turns off while instaiing updates.

However you can select last known good configuration of restore you computer to earlier time.

I would recommend you to keep the automatic updates on that will help you keep your computer in a good state.
