Question about Dell Dimension 3000 PC Desktop
The great thing about DELL is you don't have to worry about backing up your drivers, they have drivers that go back over ten years stored on their website. Go to DElls website:
and select drivers and downloads. On the next screen select enter service tag. Your service tag is a little barcode sticker found on the back of your DELL. It may also be on a tiny sticker in the front under a flap or on the top of the machine. Once you enter your service tag it should bring up the drivers for your machine. Look at the list, they will be broken down by device. Drivers will say driver somewhere in the list. Diagnostic utilities will say utility somewhere in the list. If there are multiple drivers listed for a device then download them all, just change the filenames by adding, for example VIDEO1, VIDEO2. I find it helpful with DELL when downloading the drivers to alter the name by adding what device it is for (for example it may say R105455.exe, I change it to R105455AUDIO.exe if it for the sound card, etc.) This will help you in getting the correct drivers. If you try to install a driver for a device you do not have the installation will fail. Then you just move on to the next one.
For the poster that can't get the usb hub to work, you have to update the INTEL chipset. That is what I did to get my dell's usb warning to go away. Go to the above mentioned website and follow the steps

Technically, all you have to do is download and install the Ethernet Controller driver (copy the drivers onto a cd or usb drive to get them installed on your computer). Once you do that, more than likely you can do a Windows Update and it should find the other drivers for you. The drivers will be under "Hardware, Optional" on the left if you select "Custom" and not "Express" at the Windows Update website. This way you can tailor what updates you want. If you open Internet Explorer, select TOOLS --> Windows Update. This will get you to the site.
