Compaq 7500 hard drive rebooting over and over

I downloaded Norton 360 version 2 on my friends computer. She has dial up so it took forever. When she turns the computer on, a message from the lower tool bar says she is not protected. I clicked on that and it said that Norton 360 may need an upgrade. I had just downloaded it and didn't understand that but I clicked on that and ever since the hard drive keeps shutting down and starting back up. Right after it boots back up, I have about 1 minute to try to do something before it shuts down again. What is the problem and how can I fix it?

Hi,
the same problem is occurs in my friend computer.
and this is due to Virus.
I think u have to format your harddisk and reinstall window.

Hard drive not working


I presume you set up this hard drive as the second hard drive, or as an external drive. You can do these:
1. Disk Management:
Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer Management (please run as administrator; right click it), Disk Management. Is this hard drive info exist in this screen? If it is, then the hard drive is not bad.
Click on the hard drive info, right click, and you can do some actions (format, expand the volume, assign a drive letter, etc.). Check if the partition is not active.

2. If necessary, test and fix it using Norton Utility (download and run it):

250gb harddrive computer only reads as 2.5gb\

Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer Management (please run as administrator; right click it), Disk Management. Is this hard drive info exist in this screen? If it is, then the hard drive is not bad.
Click on the hard drive info, right click, and you can do some actions (format, expand the volume, assign a drive letter, etc.)
2. If necessary, test and fix it using Norton Utilities (download and run it):

Installed 1T seagate hard drive as an internal backup but copmuter ( Windows 7) does not recognize. what should I do?

I accidently Formated my 1000GB external hard drive.. Is there anything i can do to retreive my stuff???


1. DO NOT SAVE ANYTHING ELSE TO THE DRIVE!
2. Download and install Active Undelete http://www.active-undelete.com/
3. Active un-delete can recover a formatted partition, and should let you preview certain files before recovering. You can download the demo version to see if it'll work before paying for the full version.
4. I'm not aware of any free tool which can recover a formatted partition.

1. You can use a friend computer and USB hard drive and download the backup data from Norton 360 site.
Depending on the capacity of the driver you can possibly download all you have stored on the site.

Let's check your Windows 98 Version first :)
  • Right click on My Computer and select Properties
  • On the System Properties page that opens up click on the General tab, if it is not already on that page.
  • Under the System heading, look for the version number (see right)
    • Version 4.10.1998 is the original version of Windows 98 (98FE)
    • Version 4.10.2222 is Windows 98 Second Edition (98SE)
  • Click the link below for the download and installation instructions for your version of Windows 98
Fo Windows 98 FE:
  1. Download and install the Windows 98 Service Pack (35.5Mb)
  2. Download to your desktop the driver file from the Download section below
  3. Remove ALL drivers for USB flash drives in Device Manager (Optional)
  4. Remove ALL drivers for any USB 2.0 controllers (many have an uninstall option) (Optional)
  5. Remove ALL unknown devices from Device Manager
  6. Run the exe file you downloaded, and follow the instructions, rebooting after installation
  7. When the computer boots up again, it may detect new USB 2.0 controllers, in which case you may need to reboot again

For Windows 98SE:
  1. Download the exe file to the desktop
  2. Remove ALL drivers for USB flash drives in Device Manager

Fireball lct 40 gig friend opened Hallmark email virus on computer. will not run XP


There is a freeware program out there cald 'KILLDISK " that will write 1's & 0's to the HD once and wipe the hard drive - then reformat the HD and start over - I just did this on a compaq 6330 for my buddy using the old **** QML20000LD-A Fireball LCT20 - this HD stinks and it has 1990 size 128kb Buffer and a slow 4500RPM speed
