SOURCE: Want to replace PX100 wires

Just be careful, maybe try to find a guide to dissasembling the PX-100's - I had a pair go bad that I tried to open up and I mangled them somewhat - of course I wasn't being super careful, nor were they in great condition at that point. There's a lot of you tube vides about replacing the ear buds with other ear buds - it should be straight forward, minus the extra care for taking the PX-100's apart. Any concerns about impedance matching for the wires? Could this represent a degradation of the PX-100's sound if the wires are diff. impedance?

SOURCE: I am trying to replace

See my tip on headphones jack/cable problems. Also sometimes they put on a special coating on the wires. You have to scrape the wire or file it to remove it. Spit is also good at making the solder stick!

SOURCE: Colors of the wires for CX 400 headphones

i think yellow-green are moveable ground of the volume pots, just because they are seperated and twisted to reduce noise. seperating, twisting ground channels, especially connecting them in only one point near source's ground is the basic rule of simple electronics to achieve noise reduction. yellow cable is a high impedance side of volume pot and its hard to get noise when you move pot the yellow side because you're making speakers to generate lower volume. so its not needed to twist yellow wire with others. its the possible scheme below,

The wires commonly tear inside the rubber insulation.
Only a handy, experienced cildl-solder technician could spot and repair this, so good luck. Your best and practical solution may be to buy a new set.

Wont play music

sounds like you have removed them by pulling on the wires, not by the earbuds or plug. not a recommeded practice when unplugging anything as it usually ends in broken wires internally along with tears. You may be able the get somebody to do some faultfinding/repairs if they are of the super expensive variety otherwise replacement may be the only solution. Most in-ear headphones have super delicate wiring and are as such a real pig to resolder

Kenwood ka 127 volume

• Check to see if the sound on the stereo receiver has been muted.

• If the stereo receiver has a headphone jack, make sure

no headphones are connected.

• Try a different audio setting on the stereo receiver.

• Check the speaker wires to make sure they are

connected securely to the stereo receiver.

• Try connecting different speakers to the stereo receiver

If these have already been done,

Symptoms still persist, service may be required.

hope these helps,

thanks for choosing Fixya for assistance.

I have mk 650 b ear phone and its right speaker stopped working. I expect speaker wires broken inside but i am unable to open the metal cover of it. If any body knows how to open it please help...

At first, be careful, cause you can tear the wire inside the cover.

So, you need a pliers and a small piece of paper(it will protect the metal aganist scratching).
You need to press the end of the cover(only the pink part, see the picture at the top of this page)by the pliers with paper inside it.

Then you have to twist the side with the wire. There is no thread, so the direction is irrelevant.

Be carful, cause the wire can't follow the twist, so too many twist will tear it.

That's all.

I would first look for poor solder connections. It is possible that with the moving of the unit, a marginal connection finally broke. This is not unusual for a unit that is 20 years old. Check with a local repair shop for the labor costs, but this unit is definately worth a $100-$150 investment. If you;d like, post your location here and we'll try to provide you with some referrals.

The audiolevel is much to low for a headphone.
You really need to use a headphoneoutput ( if its there) or a headphoneamplifier.
You tried to connect your headphone on line-level outputs.

If your headphones are in warranty (under a year old) Bose will repair or more likely replace them with a new pair. I am now on my forth pair or Bose in-ear headphones and experienced the same problem with an ear piece stop working. I have to say Bose customer service has been fantastic and has replaced each pair. Every new pair is then covered by a new full years warranty. Unfortunately my fourth pair has just gone wrong with the same connector problem. Bose again have said they will replace as they are in warranty. I have been told if they are out of warranty they will offer a new pair at a discount price of £50 instead of £80. However i think that if my new pair go wrong out of warranty i will have no option but to look at alternatives.A Pair of headphones that cost £80 should last more than a year!!!

Only one side of the headphones work

this is usually a problem with the wire "grommet" around the plug. this spot experiences the most wear and tear and more often than not one of the wires shorts with ground thus producing no sound. If you don't think this is the problem, try opening up the ear pieces and checking for solid connections to the speakers
