SOURCE: Nuvi 350 System Software Missing

Try this: Hold the power buuton down, you will see on the lower screen the word "Pre Booting - ". Keep holding the power button for about 60 second, then you will see on the lower screen "Booting".
This time, release power button; system will reboot and loading map... again.
I got the same problem, after research on the web. Nick 99990_0 had post this solution on (his Nuvi 660) but it work for my Nuvi 350 too. Good luck.

SOURCE: Garmin Nuvi 260w not recognized by computer

Hi,
Take a look at this site, http://www.garmin.be/missing.html Download and unzip the software, plug your garmin in the USB and start the updater.exe program. It gets you started again. Later on you can use the Webupdater to get possible newer software..
It worked for me and my Zumo550

SOURCE: THE USB PORT THAT MY GARMIN NUVI 270 IS PLUGGED IN TO IS NOT RECOGNIZED BY MY COMPUTER

If they don't give you a new one under warranty, are third party Garmin repair services that will fix it for cheap. Also, I found an DYI GPS repair guide,so you can do it yourself too, not that difficult to solder in a new USB port.

1. Press the Volume (Speaker symbol) in the bottom right corner and check that the mute box is not ticked. If it is press it and it will be ok. Also check that the volume isn't fully down.
If that doesn't solve the problem it may be because the voice file is not selected or has become corrupted.

2. Press Tools, then press Settings (or Locale on some models), then press Language. You will see a bar for Voice. Press Voice and select a different voice. If this doesn't solve the problem it's most likely because the voice file has become corrupted. To replace the corrupted file.
3. Download webupdater from http://www8.garmin.com/support/collection.jsp?product=999-99999-27 and connect your satnav to your computer. Install webupdater and your satnav will look for updates. After it's finished it will give you an option to download voices. Click the ones you want and press next. The voices selected will be downloaded to your satnav.
When you have removed the satnav from the computer you'll need to select a voice again as described in para 2 above.

I have just been googling the same problem.
Try holding in the power button for about 10 seconds - if this doesn't work, press and hold the bottom right hand of the screen while switching on, the screen should ask if you really want to do a reset - press yes (this is a factory reset so your favourites etc will vanish)
Let me know how you get on (OH has the unit with him so I can't try it out)

You may do some simple power checks, but if they check out, you'll probably need to send it in. Check that you have ample power at least 12v to 14v at the cord and plug.

Frozen screen and it says loader loading

Press the reset button - you'll find it on the lower right of the Nüvi 255, but it doesn't look like a button. It's basically the sticker with all the information on it. It's just enough to push the sticker carefully with something small, not too sharp so it doesn' get destroyed. The Nüvi reboots, the loader loads and proceeds with the software load. Once this is over, shut down the Nüvi and reconnect to the PC. Then, everything works fine (it did at least for me).

Frozen on 'loading...' page during registration

I can help you reset and fix your Garmin Nuvi 265WT.

Not starting, getting stuck on the flashing Garmin logo, or a message about not finding any maps, are indications that the firmware / system software inside your GPS has been corrupted.

There are three steps to take to get your Nuvi 265WT running like new:

  1. Back up your Favorites.
  2. Perform a Hard Reset.
  3. Download and then run Garmin 265WT WebUpdater to replace its firmware / system software.

I hope that helps.
