You just have to perform a hard reset on the modem to erase any previous data stored. Locate the small pinhole for the reset button on the bottom of the modem box if it is not at the back. Then you need to access modem gateway to put all configuration information on modem software by typing in 192.168.0.1 in your IE browser's GO TO website box (where you type website address/URL)
NOTE: Make sure that you know your username and password for your current internet connection configuration before RESETTING modem. If you don't have this settings, call your internet provider. =)

Not sure which specific router in the series you have but the following may help:
Well there should be a power light on and solid green, a DSL light solid green and on. The internet and ethernet lights should be blinking green if sending and recieving data.
I'll bet thats amber and not orange. In which case you have a 100mbps conenction to between the pc and router.
