The memory stick is either defective or not compatible with your computer ( motherboard)
Try to install same brand and type of memory as the one you had already installed.

You can upgrade your HewlettPackard Pavilion ze4910us Laptop to up to a maximum of 1.0 GB Memory, the system has 2 sockets to install Memory, already with 512 MB (removable) standard Memory installed. For best Laptop performance use the maximum amount of allowed Memory per slot for your Laptop.

Is there anything you need to do before or after upgrading your memory card in an hp laptop

If this in reference to the Ram Memory module/s, the answer is No.

Things to know about upgrading Ram Memory in a computer.
A) What is the Maximum TOTAL Amount for the computer. (Motherboard)
B) What is the Maximum Amount for EACH ram slot.
C) What Type of Ram Memory does the computer support. (Motherboard)
D) What frequency rate of Ram Memory does the computer support. (Slang for Frequency Rate is 'Speed')

If you have the correct Ram Memory, and are only installing 1 Ram Memory module, be sure to install it in Slot 1. (Also referred to as DIMM 1)

This is the Ram Memory slot the Processor reads first.

If I knew what HP laptop computer this was, such as the Product Number, and I knew what Ram Memory you are installing, I could help you further.

On the bottom of the laptop is a white Service Tag.
P/N = Product Number
(S/N = Serial Number. Do Not give this out online, except to HP Support)

If your problem does not regard Ram Memory, please disregard this solution.

HOW DO I GET TO THE MEMORY SLOT UNDER NEATH THE KEYBOARD OF MY LG LE50-3L2Z NOTEBOOK

Bad news is that you need to remove the keyboard from your laptop to get to the memory slot. Have you looked at the bottom of the laptop to see whether there is a port to the memory under there? Memory usually is much more easily reachable than to go through the keyboard first.

My laptop has 256K memory installed. I purchased 512 RAM (max I can add is 1024) and installed it in my hp Pavilion zt1230 laptop. Per Kahlon.com instructions, I cleaned gold leads with eraser and popped...

Is it a High Density memory? There are two different types of memory, High and Low. Low density is the universal but High density, may be cheaper but the motherboard needs to be compatible with High density memory. Although your memory fits in the slot, I think you have High density memory hence why it won't boot up and does when you remove the memory.

How do you go about upgrading the memory of a hp omnibook 900 laptop

easiest way is go online to hp product support. ask for upgrade of memory for your laptop. Buy memory at local computer store. Laptops are very compact, and time consuming. If there is a local IT college near you, I recommend you take the laptop, and memory there. You can have a student install memory for you at little cost .

How do I install more memory into my compaq armada 1700

You want to install memory on a 266 MHz PII?

A standard-configuration Armada 1700 has 32 MB of memory, and is expandable up to 160 MB.

Personally I don't recommend installing memory on this computer (I'd just buy a new one considering this one is pretty old), but if you still want to install memory complete the following steps:
  1. Remove the battery, floppy and disconnect the power supply
  2. Underneath the computer, there are several screws with arrows pointing to them. Remove these.
  3. There is one more screw in the center of the bottom shell. Remove this.
  4. Remove the laptop's bottom shell.
  5. Turn the laptop over and remove the keyboard.
  6. The memory is located on the left-hand portion of the laptop and is enclosed in a memory bay. Snap out the memory and install up to 160 MB SDRAM, assuming you can get your hands on it in the first place.
When finished, replace the keyboard and bottom shells, as well as the screws that you removed. Congratulations!
