There are two round screw covers on the bottom. Pry these out to reveal two screws. Remove screws and then the out case can be slid downward and off. You can then access the batteries

Replacement batteries for model 5614 can be found at See link below

this was the obvious thing to do which i tried before contacting you, but the case will not move and i dont want to break it. can you suggest the next move please? rgds tom hagan

If you have removed the screws, there is no reason that the case will not slide off. Try sticking a small screwdriver or similar object in the hole at the bottom where the cord plugs in and then push inward. This may 'unstick' the case from the inner body and push the insides out through the top

If it is not in the user manual, you should not dismantle the Brown razors. I know they are very difficult to open and a pain to reassemble. They can easily be damaged when you try to " repair" these shavers. Just send it back to Braun, or your shop. In Europe we have 2 years of warranty. If the warranty is over, please buy a new one.

Are you using the cleaning solution? On the following web blog, it talks about the razor, and mentions the cleaning solution, that is needed:
I saw similar problems reported on the net, and they had to send the unit in for repair and replacement of some "parts".

Most likely, you have damaged the circuit board from using it directly from the cord for so long and not changing the batteries when they were needed. The fact that the chatging light no longer illuminates tells me that this is probably the case. However, it is possible that only the batteries are bad. It is pretty hard to tell which it is without installing new batteries though. If you want to try new batteries, you will find the correct type at

If your unit has two batteries, order two of the type linked below

If yours has only one battery, you need this type:

To open the shaver body, you will first need to gently pry off the 'cap' on the bottom that surrounds the hole where the cord plugs in. Once removed the side grips will pull off revealing 4 screws. Remove screws to take off back cover and access insides. Inner parts simply lift out. Reassemble in reverse order

Braun 5614 rechargeable cordless shaver light flickers

Your batteries are starting to degrade, but the good news is they're still holding a charge for a week, so you really don't need to rush to replace them at this point.

The flickering of the charged indicator is normal, as the shaver is still plugged in and the batteries are fully charged. The flickering is due to the batteries chemicals breaking down, and as such, the charge cycle keeps "topping" them off while it's still plugged in.

When you finally aren't able to get a decent amount of cordless operation and run times from your shaver, then you'll want to get them replaced, whether you decide to do that yourself or have it done by a professional service center, is up to you.

Here's a reference for your future use. carries replacement (factory OEM) batteries for most brands of shavers and they also will provide the repair/replacement service for you, should you decide you don't want to do it yourself. You can also give them a call at 1-888-476-1785 and request a price quote, etc.

Anyway, your shaver is working fine and all you need to do is make sure you're not letting the shaver stay plugged in and charging constantly for more than a day, since any "extra" chargind isn't doing anything except keeping the batteries at a constant state of charge. Heat is a byproduct of charging and discharging any battery and as such, you want to allow for a cool down period before recharging them.

I tend to use my shaver until it is almost completely discharged before recharging it. By doing this, you can get the longest working life out of your batteries before you'll have to replace them.

Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!
