My phones are not working at says out of range.

When a cordless phone says "Out of Range" or "Searching for Signal", there are a number of possible issues (assuming you are close to the base). 1) The handset battery may be low and not taking a charge. If the battery is more than a year old (including time spent in storage), replace the batteries for both handsets.
2) The base may not have power or an incoming telephone line signal. Check that the power adapter is warm (power to the base). Use another phone cord (and a second phone (preferably corded) to check for a dial tone). If a second phone has no dial tone, see below for diagnosing a phone line.
3) The phone base has lost the registration information for the handsets. A way to reset the phone is to unplug the power cord (from both the wall outlet and the phone base) and the phone data line and unplug the batteries from all handsets. Wait several minutes then plug in the base power and data cords and then reconnect the phone batteries. You may want to re-register the handsets. This is done by putting the handset in the main charging base for 20 seconds when the handset is fully charged. (See your phone manual) The phone was made by Thomson Electronics for GE; the manual is available here: http://www.home-electronics.net/USER-GUIDES/25952_DOM_EN_CL_IB.pdf .
4) The phone base or handsets are not transmitting or receiving the signals properly. This means that the phone needs repair or replacement. If it is under warranty, contact the manufacturer. Otherwise decide if the phone is worth the repair costs.

If you have no dial tone at the jack where the base is connected, check another phone jack on that line. If you still have no dial tone, find where the phone service comes in. Then open the service box and if the service is fairly new, plug in the RJ-11 test phone and listen for a dial tone. If you can't plug in the phone cord or there is no dial tone, contact your service provider. They will test and fix any outside problem.

If the problem is inside, inspect the visible wires. If you have a DSL filter as part of the inside wiring, check/replace it. If only one jack has a problem, open the faceplate and fix any loose wires. There are two faceplate designs - screw terminals or keystone jacks. For the screw-type, the conductors must be stripped and secured under the screws. For the keystones, the conductors are not stripped but pressed into the terminals with a punch-down tool. This tool is available at many home improvement stores in the wiring aisle. See http://www.lanshack.com/wire_phone_jack.aspx for a diagram of the wiring.

If the problem is not in a visible part of your wiring, you may want a professional to find and fix the problem. Your telephone provider will be willing to do the work for a fee.

I hope this helps.

Hi, how do I change frequencies so I can make the T5000 and our new CLS1410 work together

Sorry, the T5000 and CLS1410 have no frequencies in common. Here are links to the user guides for each model:

http://www.weatherconnection.com/manuals/CLS1110.pdf See pgs 40-41
http://www.giantintl.com/RadioPDFs/Outdated%20Manuals/T5XXX_User_Manual_E.pdf See page 20.

The T5000 is limited to FRS frequencies, and the CLS model is set up for consumer and business frequencies. Both are UHF, but that is the end of their similarities.

Best regards.

Looking for operational manual for talk about T500

We are unable to locate the specific manual for the T5000, however, here are links to the T4800 and T5100. One or both of these should be very similar to the T5000.

When removed from cradle and then dial it gives a beeping sound and does not dial or have connection sound.

First, does the base have power? Is the handset fully charged and recognized by the primary base station (for a multi-handset system)? Is the base station plugged in to a working phone line (I like to use an old corded phone for checking this - listen for dial tone first)? Is the phone cord to the base bad (try a different cord)? Does your phone work with the base plugged into another phone jack? If you can, check if the incoming phone wiring is working (there should be a box where the utility comes in that can be opened - plug in a test phone into the test jack there).

A bad jack is indoor wiring and you will be responsible for fixing it. (Depending on the faceplate, these are either multiple wires to screws or a terminal block. The screw type can be overtightened and break one wire.) If it is a problem at the utility box, your phone company should do the service.

I hope this helps.

(I've lost phone service at the box on one line of a multi-line home for unknown reasons and lost all lines due to a bad backhoe operator. Both were fixed asap by the company. A third outage only affected the dsl and was lightning strike related - damaged a noise/interference block.)

How do I Reset my T5000 2 way radio to factory default

The T5000 Talkabout radio default settings are not the same as the CP100 and CLS. The CLS and the CP100 UHF are capable of being programmed to match one another on several frequencies, however, the TalkAbout T5000 is not capable of any of them.

The Talkabout radios, as a general rule, are limited to FRS and GMRS frequencies. The CP100 and CLS are from the business and light consumer divisions. They will do most of the common 56 UHF business frequencies.

If you would like to look at the frequency charts yourself, here are some links.

Here are the frequencies possible on the T5000 http://www.fixya.com/support/p514922-motorola_talkabout_t5000_2_way_radio/manual-362/page-17

"searching" message even when handset on the base

Found the following in AT&Ts FAQs for your phone, I'll leave only what might be relevant: # Charge the handset for 12 hours. After the first charge, the battery will quick charge in only 8 hours. Re-cradle the handset nightly for recharging. The battery will not overcharge. # Connect telephone line from base to unit to modular telephone jack. If cord is already plugged in, unplug and reconnect at both ends. Also, you may want to try another cord from a working telephone. See the owner's manual under "Connecting to Phone Line." (you can get the manual here on the product page in case you lost it) # Try a working phone at the jack. If another phone has the same problem in that jack, the phone jack is defective. Good luck, hope you work it out
