Question about Fisher and Paykel IWL12 Top Load Washer

1 Answer

The machine was about to start the spin cycle when it started to beep and two lights came on. When I turn the power on and off at the switch it just starts beeping again and the only three lights are on.

Hi Vicky.Just read your last posting. Now, In my service manual the error code you indicated does not relate to an existing code.Could you please confirm the model number of your machine which will be on a sticker, which is on the back of your machine, top left. Also could you also confirm the lights that are lit when the machine is actually beeping.Sorry to ask these questions but I need this information to accurately diagnose the fault on your machine.Looking forward to your reply.

Hi Vicky.Just the information I needed. The fault on your machine is called COLD VALVE FAULT. This means that your cold water valve or the wiring to the valve or the control module is faulty. About 90% of the time it is the water valve that is faulty. How would you like to proceed? If you have or can borrow an electrical test meter I can guide you step by step in the testing and replacement of the water valve.Or you can ring up your local FISHER@PAYKEL PARTS DISTRIBUTOR and quote the model number of your machine and find out how much a cold water valve is.If you have no way of testing the valve then its is your choice to change the valve and see how it goes.I don't think the valves are expensive. In Australia they are about $35-00.Please reply and let me know how you would like to proceed and I will help you as much as I can.Looking forward to your reply.

SOURCE: GLW10US won't do anything but beep

the error you are describing is a communication problem between the display module and the motor control module. unfortunately there is no test to determine which it is. most common is the motor control or RPS (rotor position sensor)

SOURCE: maytag neptune washer keeps beeping

The Service Manual for reference. Sears Parts Direct for reference.
I have tried to work with a few folks on this issue never received feed back to resolution see this post. I feel the issue is caused by one of three possible issues.

A stuck key issue/defective Spin Cycle key making constant contact forcing the Key/LED to cycle thru the Spin Cycle settings. Under normal conditions if you press and hold the Spin Select key it will cycle thru the settings, yours has a mind of its own (defective issue).

A false signal from the Control Board for the Spin Cycle.

A corrosion path issue at the Membrane Pad ribbon cable socket connection between pins 5 and 4. See page 20 of the SM button functionality “Spin” key.

Try to verify that the spin cycle membrane key is not stuck/defective signaling the Control Board to cycle thru the spin settings. I have not experienced this issue but let’s try the Membrane Pad Test
to get a start point. See the Service Manual page 15, I have modified the process to make it a bit more understandable at least for me. Make sure the two digit display is not On or Lite.
Press the off button first so there is nothing displayed in the Two Digit display of your FAV6800AW.

Now Enter / Exit Service Mode

To enter Service Mode press the Enviro Plus and Spin Only keys for three seconds or until the control beeps. While in Service Mode, pressing the Presoak key will start a membrane switch check that verifies switch operation.

All the LEDs (except Presoak ) can be toggled or slewed by pressing the key associated with the LED or set of LEDs. Do not press the Presoak again during this test.

Press each key once and only once including the Signal Key the on side and the off side, also the UP and Down Arrow key of the LED display. All keys (including the OFF button) must be pressed within 5 minutes for this test to pass. “PA” will be displayed for five (5) seconds once all keys have been pressed and the test is completed (more like PA will be displayed for only a few seconds on my FAV6800AW). Following 10 seconds of inactivity at any point, this test will exit without any display. Let us know the results.

When you start your machine is the water just go stop go stop,
Just wait for the machine to display an error code on the wash progress lights and beeps constantly.
It could be the Rotor Position Sensor, out of balance switch or lid magnetic reed switch.
Your error code will determine this.
Is your machine beeping & showing a weird pattern of lights on the wash cycle, It is displaying an error code,
To read this error code you start at the red spin light & work to the left only add up the lights that are on. Red spin light = 1 2nd rinse light =2 1st rinse light =4 last wash light=8 4th wash light=16 3rd wash light=32 2nd wash light=64 1st wash light=128

Mw512 beeps and wont start

The lid switch sounds logical. That would certainly halt the cycle. I'm not sure what actuates the lid switch on your particular model but check it as well. Good luck.

Machine will not spin or drain water.

I have a problem with my MW512AU. Sometimes it drains after wash cycle, but sometimes it sticks when it goes to spin, doesn't get up to speed, water comes on for about 10 seconds and shuts off, and it tries to spin again. If I hit the wash progress switch it goes directly to final spin and works ok. I then have to run a 2nd wash cycle to rinse the clothes. I also noticed a buzzing sound when I turn on the power point, which lasts about 3 seconds before stopping. It will come back on every 3-4 minutes for 30 seconds. This is with the machine power switch off. It powers on normally.

Stops drains and bleeps with only spin light illuminated

It sounds like you need to re programme the
machine.
With the machine plugged into the wall and
turned on and the headset turned off this is what
you do.
Push and hold down the start button, while doing that you need to then push and hold down the power button.
Hold them down for about 5 seconds, during
which time you may a series of up to 3 beeps.
Then release the buttons.
Turn the machine off and then on again followed by the start button. Allow the machine to then run the complete cycle.
This should correct your problem, if this doesn't then you may need to then look at replacing the computer panels.

No power? Let's see if we can solve this problem.
  1. Unplug then plug back again.
  2. Start the program.
  • If beeping send for repair/replacement.
  • If not beeping be happy to continue using your washing machine.

Hi, we had something similar happen just before christmas. Our machine seemed to finish a cycle and started making beeping noise with end light flashing. Then when I switched it back on to do another load it just started beeping with end light flashing no matter what cycle was selected. Engineer has been out and advised that it is a fault with the motherboard so has ordered another one. Hope this is of some help. Machine was tricity bendix aw1400w.
