Question about Canon EOS 450D Digital Camera

1 Answer

My 450d canon won't turn on and when the battery is in, the WB button (second on the right side of the screen) is blue. I have a feeling this means' get it repaired' as I had a friend borrow it and said they spilt a drink near it but not on it, but this seems like they may have spilt the drink ON my camera and have caused some sort of water damage. I'm really quite worried as I'm often told repairs cost more than the camera is worth and I don't want to have to buy another!

Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)

Canon rebel Xs/1000D fails to operate except for blue flashing light on WB button

Although I have seen this error before last week (or two weeks ago) it is not a known error in my list. Must be something serious wrong with your camera.
Perhaps Canon can tell more, but I think they will give you the advice to hand the camera in on a Canon Camera service centre.
The only thing I would do, before giving the camera out of my hands, is checking if every contact in and on the camera, included the connectors, if nothing is wrong, like dirty, bent or oxidised.
Success

Dear:

1.Check the device's battery level for at least two bars of strength.
2.If the battery level is low, charge the battery.
3.If the issue is not resolved, remove the back cover.
4.Remove the battery.
5.Wait 10 seconds.
6.Press and hold the W key.
7.While pressing down the W key, re-insert the battery.
•The device restarts and after approximately 15 seconds, the 'Recovery' screen appears
•Release the power button but *continue holding the home button*, for another 30 seconds.

The memory card must be in it. If you take a picture without the card in it, it will show for a few seconds then go black. There must be a memory card in order to save the pictures.

How to replace cr2016 from 450d/XSi or 500D/Xt1

The other bloke doesn't know what he is talking about..this is plainly obvious.

Looks like the CR2016 is inside the battery compartment under a small cut-out plastic piece (on same side as hinge). Use a torch and you can see it under this plastic piece.

You either need to dissemble it to get access or break off this plastic cover to replace...or take it to canon.

Canon 450D, ERROR 99 only when flash pops up

Err 99 usually means your lens contacts are dirty either on the lens itself or on the camera.

To isolate the cause of the issue, do the following: -
1. Turn off the camera.
2. Remove the lens, battery, and CF card.
3. Allow the camera to sit without power for approximately 20 minutes.
4. Insert only a fully charged battery, and turn on the camera.
5. Depress the shutter button as you would to take a picture.

Does the “ERR 99" message appear? If so, the camera may be faulty and requires a service. If it does not, then: -
1. Turn off the camera.
2. Insert the CF card.
3. Turn on the camera.
4. Format the CF card in the camera.
5. Depress the shutter button as you would to take a picture.

Does the “ERR 99" message appear? If so, then the CF card is faulty. Try a different card. If the message does not appear: -
1. Turn off the camera.
2. Clean the gold contacts on the lens by GENTLY rubbing them with a pencil eraser or soft cloth. Keeping the camera face pointing down, also clean the gold contacts on the camera, being careful that you do not let any debris fall into the camera body.
3. Reattach your lens.
4. Turn on the camera.
5. Depress the shutter button as you would to take a picture.

If the “ERR 99" message only appears when one particular lens is attached, then that lens should be examined by a service technician.
If you see the “ERR 99" with a different Canon lens attached, then the camera is faulty and should be serviced.

Canon 20D strong blue cast to pictures

You probably have the White Balance set to a setting other a
than "Auto White Balance" (AWB). On the top of the camera, above the exterior LCD panel, there is the "AF-WB" button. Turn the camera on--past "on" to the bent line. Press the AF-WB button once. On the left side of the exterior LCD panel there is a vertical, reticular box with the symbol of the selected setting for WB. Normally, the setting should be set to AWB. If it is not, turn the command dial at the back of the camera until "AWB" is showing. Try shooting again-the color should be better.

In the "auto" modes (green box, portrait, landscape, etc) the AWB is automatically set. In the "advanced" modes (P,Tv, etc) the WB is manually set for whatever light source you are using. The command dial may have been accidently turned to different setting. Hope this helps.
