If uninstalling and reinstalling Office for mac 2008 will not resolve the issue, try creating a new user account.

Go to System Preferences> click Accounts > click the padlock on the lower right> type your password is there is a password> click the plus( ) sign to create a new user account.

Logout to your account then login to the new User, test Microsoft Office. If it will crash again, try repairing the disk permission.

Click Go>utilities>Disk utility>Choose Macintosh HD then click on repair disk.

If its still no go, Do Archive and install using the Mac OS X Disc. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1710

    Hope this helps.

Delete any new programs that you have downloaded.

Often, the cause of corruption in a computer system is a bad download that installs harmful files.

If you started to get the Appcrash error on your system after downloading a new program or software from the Internet, it's highly likely you have downloaded a bad product.

Use the "Add/Remove Programs" feature in the Control Panel to get rid of the program immediately.

Uninstall the program that is crashing.

It is possible to fix the program's corrupted files while the program is still installed, but to make sure that you clear the program files completely, it is safest to completely uninstall it from the system.

Run a full scan of your computer.

Your computer should already have antivirus software installed that can scan for corrupted files and either fix them or delete them from your system.

If you do not have antivirus software on your computer, that could be a big part of the problem.

Purchase and install antivirus software as soon as possible.

Once you have the antivirus program installed, open it and click "Scan Computer."

The antivirus scan will isolate bad files and you will be given the option to remove them from your system.

Reinstall the program that was crashing.

Now that the corrupted files have all been removed, your program should run smoothly after reinstallation.

Check for program incompatibility.

If, after a thorough scan and cleaning of your computer and reinstallation of your program, the

Appcrash errors continue, the program you are trying to use may not be compatible with your operating system or other programs on your computer

How do you know the product key used for this program?

most likely you have Office Mac 2008 home and student edition. You have 3 product keys provided with the install DVD. You will only know if the product key is already used when you use Office Mac in 2 Mac computers(used the same Product key) Error message will pop up saying that Microsoft Office is already in used. When you accidentally used same product key on both computers, the workaround for that is to remove the product key and use the product key that you think you haven't used yet.
To remove the product key:

] > Finder\~\Applications\Microsoft Office 2008\Office

* Remove OfficePID.plist

] > Finder\<username>\Library\Preferences\Microsoft\Office 2008

* Remove Microsoft Office 2008 Settings.plist

After removing the 2 files try launching an Office Application then it will prompt you to Improvement program. Just click continue then it will prompt you to enter the Product Key.

How can i unhighlite the text in macbook word 2008

JUST READ THROUGH
Just wondering if anyone else was having issues with Microsoft Word from MS Office 2008, where you open the application, you type a few sentences, and the application freezes with the spinning circle of death that won't go away until you click the dock where it says "application not responding" and do a force-quit? You can leave the circle spinning for 10-20-30 minutes, and it never goes away.

Now for the weird part--this error only happens for me when I'm using a specific document on my computer. I can open Word, start a new document, type several paragraphs of text, and it works fine. But I've been working on an existing paper for about two months that all of a sudden started causing these freezes/crashes when editing it. It's about 30 pages roughly, no images, no big inserts that would take up a lot of memory (116 kb in size). And up until today, there were no problems. So why all of a sudden can't I edit anything on this paper without freezing the program?! I downloaded the Microsoft Office 2008 Service Pack 1 that was just released after this problem started, and ran all the recent Java and program updates through Software Update with computer restarts. I even copied the text from the Word document I was working on, pasted it into a new document, tried saving it as both .doc and .docx, and again the program still freezes when working with that text in a new file. This one baffles me. It's like the text within a document is somehow freezing the application. One thing I did notice is that the freezes seem to happen when I'm scrolling using a mouse wheel. Not always, but quite a bit. I suppose this is some memory issue related to several pages of text that the program can't render or process when you add new lines of text or scroll, but again, I can't figure why this paper I've been working on for months all of a sudden decided to start freezing Word today. Can you really only have 30 double-spaced pages of text in Word before it crashes?

Looks like I've found my reason to switch to Open Office, since I'm 3-4 days out from a

APPCRASH error please help

When program files or files within your computer's registry have become corrupted, this can cause the programs to unexpectedly crash. When a program crashes, you will likely get an Appcrash error. The error message will say "Windows Media Player (or whichever program has crashed) has stopped working" and then list rows of technical information regarding the cause of the crash. Unless you are a computer programmer, you may never fully understand what caused your program crash, but that doesn't mean that you can't fix it.
Delete any new programs that you have downloaded. Often, the cause of corruption in a computer system are bad downloads that bring harmful files onto your computer. If you started to get the Appcrash error on your system after downloading a new program or software from the Internet, it's highly likely you have downloaded a bad product. Use the "Add/Remove Programs" feature in your "Control Panel" to get rid of the program immediately.
Uninstall the program that is crashing. It is possible to fix the program's corrupted files while the program is still installed, but to make sure that you clear the program files completely, it is safest to completely uninstall it from the system.

If you do not have antivirus software on your computer, that could be a big part of the problem. Purchase and install antivirus software as soon as possible. These are designed tor from outside threats. Once you have the antivirus program installed, open it and click "Scan Computer." The antivirus scan will isolate bad files and you will be given the option to remove them from your system.
  1. Reinstall the program that was crashing. Now that the corrupted files have all been removed, your program should run smoothly after reinstallation.
  2. Check for program incompatibility. If, after a thorough scan and cleaning of your computer and reinstallation of your program, the Appcrash errors continue, the program you are trying to use may not be compatible with your program. For instance, there are some DVD softwares, such as Media Now, that do not work correctly with Windows Vista. These lists can be easily found online. If this is the case, you will have to purchase a software program that is compatible with your OS
You should download a program such as RegCure and run it from time to time. If you are unable to download a copy let me know and I will give you a link on my web where you can download it.

Hi,
The problem is the feature you tried istalling might have corrupted the OS. What you can try doing is create new user account first , restart your computer into the new user computer and then try installing. If the same still doesnot work , then my friend the only solution would be to reinstall windows xp and then put office 2007.

Office 2007 Install Problems

It can be very aggravating to reinstall Office; you probably need to use the free removal tool that Microsoft provides for situations like yours. It may have nothing to do with Office 2007 and everything to do with whatever else you added via Add/Remove Programs. My best advice is patience; Office12 is huge, and takes a long time to put all its junk in there; Microsoft will walk you through it if you have patience with their tech support folks and time to wait on hold to reach someone. The good news is they get paid to sit with frustrated folks like you. If you can be more sprcific what the error message(s) say(s) that will help whomever could help you get to the root cause of your issue(s).
