Possibly brush needs to be removed , cleaned , brush bearings lubricated, and new belt or oring belt needs to be fitted.
Dont do it yourself unless mechanically minded.
Ring up vacuum cleaner place.

look for a blockage -something may have dislodged the lever mechanism, or be stuck preventing the roller or position leaver from moving.

If the roller brush cannot be rotated easily by hand, it is likely that debris is jammed inside the end caps.Make note of the direction arrows on the end caps as you remove the roller brush. You will need to know this for reinstallation. The end caps are fastened with stop nuts. Removal of one will allow the inner shaft to be extracted for examination and cleaning. An old toothbrush is a good cleaning tool. Reinstall the inner shaft and stop nut. Check for free rotation of the brush roller. Place a new belt over the brush roller and reinstall the brush roller, being careful to observe the position of the arrows on the end caps. Inspect the motor shaft and remove any old belt residue before installing the new belt on the shaft.

Hi I have a dirt devil vision. Hose works, but does not vacuuming the floor. Belts are not broken. Larger belt is moving, smaller belt that moves the brushes does not.

hi krueger, sorry for the problems but hers an idea how about turning on the vacuum and put your hand under the part where it sucks uo the dirt off the floor and i guessing you would have a little suction, since the brushes are not moving its going to not pick up as well as it should my guess is that the belts need to be replaced even if one is moving, i would change both belt to be sure and also are you smelling a burning smell if so then that would prove fact to needing new belts, hope this helps, Jamie

I have a vax 1600 swift bagless and it leaves a trail of fluff behind it and won't pick up. I have cleaned the filters.

Did you check to make sure the belt is turning the brush properly and check down in the brush head for clogs?

I think I need to check yhe brushes on vax swift 1500 bagless how do I get to the motor taken some screws out nothing budged and now come to a standstill . Help please

If it's like my model, remove the top cover of the base unit (surrounds the hose connector), remove the drive belt underneath, remove the upright unit from the top of the motor housing. Hopefully, now the motor is just sitting there held by the swivel mounts. Using just your hands, pull back on the motor while pushing the housing away from it on the drive shaft side. This will allow the drive shaft to come free from the housing and the motor will then lift free.

No suction on carpet

make sure the brush is spinning and also make sure u there is not a clog right behind the canister when you detach it from the vacuum itself
