Go to your network properties and check if it is properly installed. If not, install it.

Verify that TCP/IP (or other appropriate protocol) is properly installed.

  1. Open Control Panel and open Network Connections or Network and Sharing Center, then click Change adapter settings. The wireless card should be present as Wireless Network Connection.
  2. Right-click the appropriate Wireless Network Connection and select Properties. In the Properties window, make sure that the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) or Internet Protocol Version (TCP/IPv4) is installed.
  3. If TCP/IP is not installed, click Install, click Protocol, and then click TCP/IP.
  4. Once installed make sure that Obtain an IP address automatically, and Obtain DNS server address automatically are checked (if using DHCP). To verify this, highlight the TCP/IP protocol, and select Properties.
Note: Only use a Static IP Address if your network/Service Provider requires one.

8.Verify the TCP/IP address.

  1. Click Startwindows%20start%20button.png, select All Programs, select Accessories, and then click Command Prompt.
  2. Type the command, ipconfig. This will list the IP address for the local machine.
  3. If this returns a 169.x.x.x or 0.0.0.0 address, then type the following commands;
    ipconfig /release and then
    ipconfig /renew.

You should then receive a TCP/IP address appropriate to your network, along with a Default Gateway address.
  4. Try to communicate with it by typing this command ping x.x.x.x where x.x.x.x is the IP address of the Default Gateway. (i.e. ping 192.168.1.1)
  5. If this does not give a reply (see the example in step 9) or you did not receive a TCP/IP address, go to the next step.
  6. If you are connecting wirelessly, but receiving an IP address, your wireless router/Access Point might need to be reset (unplug power for a minute, then plug back in), or maybe defective. Please consult your wireless router/Access Point manufacturer for further assistance.

9. Ping the loopback address.

  • Click Startwindows%20start%20button.png, select All Programs, select Accessories, and then click Command Prompt.
  • Type the command, ping 127.0.0.1. This will send a message to the internal network stack on the machine. You should see a response like this:

Pinging 127.0.0.1 with 32 bytes of data:

    Reply from 127.0.0.1: bytes=32 time<10ms TTL=128
    Reply from 127.0.0.1: bytes=32 time<10ms TTL=128
    Reply from 127.0.0.1: bytes=32 time<10ms TTL=128
    Reply from 127.0.0.1: bytes=32 time<10ms TTL=128

    Ping statistics for 127.0.0.1:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milliseconds:
    Minimum = 0ms, Maximum = 0ms, Average = 0ms
  • If instead, you receive errors, then there maybe system corruption or malware installed preventing networking from functioning properly.
  • 10. Verify that the hardware is functioning using diagnostics.

    • Check the web site, http://support.lenovo.com. Choose Download Drivers and Software and enter your particular system. Then under Diagnostic choose the download for your system. If diagnostics fail, please contact warranty support for resolution.
    • Run diagnostics for third party wireless card.
Note: If using another manufacturer's product, then consult it's documentation on how to run the diagnostics for the wireless card.

How to turn on a dhcp on a rca model dcm425 cable modem?

Hi there,
Enabling DHCP at the Client To enable the Windows NT DHCP client, you must log on as administrator at the Windows NT client.

Normally, you enable DHCP as part of the installation procedure for Microsoft TCP/IP, however, you can use this procedure if you have manually configured TCP/IP:
  1. Run Control Panel and choose Network.

The Network Settings dialog box appears.
  2. Under Installed Network Software, select TCP/IP Protocol and then choose configure.

The TCP/IP configuration dialog box appears.
  3. Select Enable Automatic DHCP Configuration.

A Microsoft (MS) TCP/IP message appears, indicating that the DHCP Protocol attempts to configure the server automatically during system initialization.
  4. Choose Yes.

A MS TCP/IP Configuration dialog box appears, displaying current TCP/IP configuration parameters. The IP Address and Subnet Mask boxes are not available (grayed out) and the manually configured values are no longer displayed.
  5. Choose OK to return to the Network Settings dialog box.
  6. Choose OK again.
  7. Shut down and restart the computer.
To enable DHCP on a Windows for Workgroups client if TCP/IP is not installed yet:
  1. Use Network Setup to install the MS TCP/IP-32 3.11 protocol.
  2. In the MS TCP/IP Configuration dialog box, select the Enable Automatic DHCP Configuration check box, and choose Continue.
  3. Restart the computer to initialize TCP/IP using DHCP.
To enable DHCP on a Windows for Workgroups client if TCP/IP is installed:
  1. To access the Network Drivers dialog box, run Network Setup.
  2. Select Microsoft TCP/IP-32 3.11, and then choose Setup.
  3. In the MS TCP/IP Configuration dialog box, select the Enable Automatic DHCP Configuration check box, and choose continue.

A message box appears indicating that the configuration of DHCP overrides any values established locally.
  4. Choose Yes.
  5. To initialize TCP/IP using DHCP information, restart the computer.

You may need to check your firewall settings and check the box to allow your new program access through the firewall. Check your connections under START, SHOW ALL CONNECTIONS and make sure the TCP/IP client is installed for your device. If it is, use DHCP for IP address handling by going to the LOCAL AREA CONNECTION PROPERTIES and under the INTERNET PROTOCAL (TCP/IP) client, click PROPERTIES and check the OBTAIN IP ADDRESS AUTOMATICALLY. If you have IP and DNS addresses in the boxes, write them down to re-enter if you need to.

Try the following: first start the installation until the error rises - don't continue. Then change to the "normal" printer installation through system/printers/add printer There install a local printer at "HP Standard TCP/IP Port" ("Standard TCP/IP Port" works too), fill in the ip, choose HP and your printer - it now should be listet due to the interrupted installation - finish this installation. The printer is now ready. At last terminate the waiting (exe)installation by taskmanager - don't let it finish cause it tries to deinstall the printer again. Regards Erik Nagel

It is not a problem with your wireless, it is a problem with your Windows installation. Here are two things to try...

1. Run some sort of registry repair program. - Glary Utilities is a good free one, CCleaner is free and does reg stuff.

2. To reinstall TCP/IP, you can Remove your Network Card in the device manager, then reboot your computer. When it reboots, it will redetect the NIC and install the drivers, including the TCP/IP transport protocol. I very recently dealt with this problem, and the registry repairs fixed it.

Keep me posted...

Hello,
You are going to go to the tcp/ip settings and enter a permanent ip address.
If you access the internet you could always use the ip address you are getting from dhcp, just go to start-run and type cmd then at the command prompt type ipconfig and copy the ip, subnet, gw and dns to the tcp/ip settings.
Thank you for choosing agadycom.

or

Windows Firewall settings cannot be displayed because the associated service is not running. Do you want to start the Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) service?

or

This application has failed to start because SPORDER.dll was not found.

2) Third-party networking products may not function correctly.

3) Computers may not be able to connect to the network because they cannot obtain an IP address.

4) You may receive the following error message when you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer:

Error 404: Page cannot be displayed.

Cause:

There are known spyware programs that install layered service providers (LSPs) on client computers to gather user data.
