It's an internal problem. If ocurring after messing with the keyboard the solution is to turn off the asus, unplug the battery, plug it again and turn on. It happens in both 700 and 900 models.

Check settings for keyboard in control panel 1st. try plugging a regular keyboard into laptop external keyboard port...some have keyboard input, some you have to use usb keyboard. If external works you might have problem with keyboard or connection inside laptop.

I have an Asus Eee PC 1001ha series, with Windows XP. Whenever I turn it on it displays the grey asus screen with the phrase "press F2 to run Setup, Press TAB to display BIOS POST Message",...

My suggestion is better to send it on the technical around on your area, to prevent any further damage. And also backup your files by removing your hard disk and slave it to other computer. Just use any converter of mobile hard disk to become a USB type drive. Hope it helps thanks.

Eee pc r101 keyboard not working properly. Some of the keys won't type the correct letters and type the function letter or symbol instead or just random numbers. Also the touch pad and mouse click is...

The keyboard takes a lot of abuse and as durable as it is, they will eventually wear out. It is a very inexpensive part to replace and does not require a lot of skill. The fact that the touch pad is acting up could indicate that they are interconnected. I would replace both. The Touch pad is a more involved part to replace and I would suggest you get some help or pay to have it replaced.

You can order them off of sites like eBay, then watch a YouTube video on how to do it.

Asus keys problem

Move your hands in a swiping motion from left to right all around the keyboard, especially where the semi-colon key is. You want to make sure that no keys are sticking.

If it keeps happening then that means the keyboard is faulty and would need to be replaced.

My asus eee pc900hd runs on (skip spaces) while

Well the easiest way to narrow the root of the problem would be to eliminate whether or not this is a software related problem.
So basically you will want to do a fresh install of the operating system. If this fixes the issue GREAT! if not your keyboard is more than likely experiencing a short.
Think of your keyboard as a grid of horizontal and vertical wires, when you press a key, that key makes 1 horizontal and one vertical wire connect this tells the computer which key is being pressed that it is also making a connection for the spacebar.

If you need more clarification or help feel free to leave additional comments but I would start with backing up any files you have and formatting the harddrive and reinstalling the operating system

My Asus Eee PC 701 SD has a stuck control key.

Shut it down (not hibernate), remove power supply and remove battery. Wait 30 seconds before reinserting battery. Boot the system.

In this doesn't solve the issue, your keyboard might be dirty. In that case you should clean it. Be careful if you choose to use a vacuum cleaner that you take measures to prevent your keys from getting into the vacuum cleaner.

Asus eee keyboard

Nope. It corrected its self after a few days and now its doing the same thing again. I've taken the keyboard out and cleaned it but still no luck. At the minute i'm using an ordinary keyboard on it. I might take it into a shop next week. Good luck with yours.

Asus Keyboard Problem

Hi!

You may have a problem with the keys on your keyboard sticking. And it could be the ALT key that's sticking. You can try to remove the keyboard unplug and reconnect the cable underneath it. Or better yet, try an external keyboard see if its doing the same thing so that you will have a better conclusion if its the keyboard or just the settings on your OS or BIOS.

Hope this helps!
