Hi,
I read the problem. This is a common problem and many horror stories were discussed in may forums. The main problem does not lie whether it were few drops or a large volume of water. The main problem seems that those drops might have been gone close to the boards or the circuits. It would be tough to mention this TURN off situation as a coincidence as i have personally seen these problem. I would not advise you to swap the motherboard as you never know,it could be a small blown IC or a power issue.A tech is always useful than paying money on parts on the basis of speculative answers. Different people might have seen different problem when water enters the notebook.
What you will need to do is remove as much of the laptop pieces that you can, this will allow it to completely dry out, you may want to get a couple cans of air ion a can to spay in the deeper areas of the laptop.
Download the service manual :-

It would have details how you need to dissemble and assemble the notebook.Remember, you need to take all the precaution and better use a camera while dissembling so that you could make sure how to assemble.I would leave the parts for 24 hours and then i would assemble. So, make sure dissemble the parts, wait for 24 hours and then assemble and try to boot.
Let me know,if needed further assistance.
Hope i helped you.
Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Hi, I have seen many many times before in my shop, even a small amount of moisture, even steam can, and will render a keyboard no good. The , moisture, seeps between the halves of the tactile plastic, key matrix, and causes leakage paths across the surfaces and the controller, will not work, when that happens. However, replacing a keyboard is pretty easy.
You simply need to obtain a new keyboard, and then remove the old one, make sure there is no moisture inside the laptop, use paper towels to absorb any moisture, and even put it opened ip, in a warm place for a few hours, even over night.
Bow once all is OK, the new keyboard simply gets plugged into a small connector, and you are done, reassemble, test before hand, make sure all is secure, and replace the top cover.
Below is a manual that will show you how to do it.

Below is a video, if that;s easier to follow,

you maybe able to get a keyboard from ebay etc. Or use this official link below, to obtain a keyboard.

Hello, David.
I don't think that a small amount of water would totally short-out the notebook.
Remove the power cord and the battery. Hold down the power button for ten seconds. Then, reconnect the A/C power and turn the notebook on.
If it works, disconnect the power and put the battery back in.
Hope this helps.
OK. Well give this a try: turn the laptop upside down and use a fan to dry out the keyboard. Leave the keyboard in that position for at least several hours before powering on again.
Hope this helps.
Unfortunately, the ideal order after a water spill is: disconnect power, remove battery, turn laptop over, dry with hair dryer, wait 24 hours with laptop turned off, THEN power up. Since you had already tried to power your laptop, I suggested the other options.
I'm sorry, but at this point, your laptop could be essentially unusable.or need a new motherboard at least.

Yes, tried this. Sadly, it did not work. What else can I do?
Would it make a big difference if my laptop had been on for a really long time (really warm battery), and then it just stop working when water fell on keyboard?
I dropped a small amount of water on my HP G60 laptop computer and it does not power up. Itried the 10 seconds power hold down trick, and it did not work. What else can I do?
Nope, that did not work either. I did that and there is no water to speak of on the keyboard, but it still not not work.
Hello Silverdragon,
Someone told me that my computer no longer works becuase I will be needing a new motherboard.
It wasn't that much water, albeit water, and when I took the keyboard off--after opening it upside down, not a drop of water leaked out of the keyboard.
