Question about Video Game Consoles & Games
Ok it sounds like you have a display setting problem, please try this step first to see if ti sorts your problem out :-
Step 1. Turn the PS3 off into standby (red light on)
Step 2. Press and hold the power button. It will beep when you first press it, then beep again 5 seconds later. When you hear this second beep let go of the power button.
Step 3. The PS3 will restart and allow you to set the video settings up again.
If this does not work then there may be a problem with the actual dvd/blu ray settings. One way to sort this out is to manually check them yourself or simply return the PS3 back to default settings. If you want to do that, make sure you back up your game saves and other data before continuing.
To return your PS3 back to default :-
Step 1. Turn the PS3 off into standby mode (red light on)
Step 2. Press and hold the power button. It will beep when you first press it and then beep 2 more times and turn back off into standby. Release the power button.
Step 3. Press and hold the power button again. It will beep when you first press it, beep again 5 seconds later and then there will be 2 quick beeps together. When you hear these 2 beeps release the power button.
Step 4. Your PS3 will restart and ask you to connect a controller via USB and press the PS button. Do this and then continue onto the next step.
Step 5. A menu will load with 6 options, choose option 5 "Restore PS3 system". This will reset your PS3 back to factory settings and wipe your hard drive. Agree to anything that comes up on the screen.
Hopefully this will sort your problem for you, if it does not then it is fair to say that there is probably some problem with the PS3 display chip and that usually is pretty terminal.
I hope this helps you out and thank you for using FixYa

This is not your problem. Replace it immediately and make sure they play a DVD and blueray there when you replace it for you.
