Question about Plantronics Discovery 975 (8164001 P) Bluetooth Headset

I charge up my plantronics discovery 975 headset in the fully charged case and the red light blinks, but the headset does not charge and it has been charging for about an hour and a half.

Sounds like you have a bum unit.  Plantronics gives a 1 year warranty with every wireless product, I'd send it back.
Have you made sure that you're turning it on correctly?  You push the call answer button and hold it down for about 3 - 5 seconds before it turns on, until the blue light turns on.  Make sure that you don't hold it longer than that or it will go into pairing mode.

It sounds like you're still in pairing mode (and not paired) if the light is flashing white/red. Take a look at the following link on pairing instructions:

If it continued to flash white/red and not pair, you may have a defective unit. Contact where you purchased the unit for a replacement or call Plantronics at 1-800-544-4660 x 5538.

Two things need to happen in order to pair your headset to your phone. The headset needs to be in pairing mode and the phone needs to be able to see and save the headset as a connection. To make this happen you need to change the settings in the phone to first allow the connection and then put it into the seek and find mode. When the phone is in seek and find mode, you put the blue tooth in discovery mode at the same time and you should be able to pair them. To put your bluetooth in pairing mode, press and hold the power button and turn it off. Then press and hold it to turn it on until the light come on. you should see a blue light that is on for a bit and then turns off. Press the power button again and this time do not release until the headset starts blinking red and blue. when its blinking red and blue release the button and sit it down near you. leave it on and blinking until finished. now follow the instructions listed below to turn the bluetooth option on and get your phone in discovery mode:

First select a 16 passcode for remote sim card access.

Press options - then new paired device and the phone will search for bluetooth devices.

if your phone picks up other bluetooth devices before it finds yours, press "more devices" until you see the name of your headset.

when the phone finds your headset - select it and press yes for auto connection.

Then select set as authorized and you are done!

I have a plantonics headset that does not pair with my I phone 4s, I have pressed the button on it until the light comes up but no results, I have a plantonics 975


Turn on Bluetooth option within your phone - Consult phone instruction booklet
Put phone into pairing mode - Consult phone instruction booklet
Put the 975 headset into pairing mode - With the 975 headset on, press and hold Call Control Button until the headset begins to flash red and white.
Select "Add new device" on your phone.
Select the Plantronics 975 headset when prompted. Enter "0000" as passcode.
Your 975 headset will now have a continuous white light blinking.
Choose "Yes" if your phones asks if you want to bond to the 975 bluetooth headset.
Your phone is now paired with the Plantronics 975 headset and ready for use.

Cant listen to music on my 975


The Plantronics Discovery 975 Bluetooth headset does not supports Advanced Audio Distribution (A2DP) and you need this Bluetooth profile to be able to stream music between two Bluetooth devices. The device you are streaming music from (example: cell phone) to the headset must also support Advanced Audio Distribution (A2DP).

Ear peice wont charge from the charging dock


If it is under warranty (1 year) Plantronics will replace the headset and charging base case for you. Package up both the headset and the charging case and include your return address, phone number and a copy of your receipt and send to:

Plantronics discovery 975 won't turn off nor pair with phone...


Just to make sure you are turning off the earpiece correctly:
Press the call control button for 4 seconds. It will glows red. Then you will hear 4 descending tones. If this does not work I would suggest taking it back to where you purchased it from and have it replaced, the headset has a one year warranty.
