yes i've tried the known working items to the laptop that wont turn on and still nothing. Should i look into a new motherboard or just look for a new laptop all together?

Hi. This is a clear picture that there is something wrong with the motherboard. Have you tried installing the peripherals of the new computer to the laptop that is having the issue? If still same issue after insatlling all the new devices to the non working laptop then this is a motherboard problem.

i suggest youll go and look for a new laptop. Buying a new motherboard is not a good idea and besides all you need is to add a few bucks and what you will get is a new computer with warranty. The old hraddrive is still usable. Buy a harddrive enclosure and have the old harddrive as your external harddrive.

Older Toshiba laptop runs on battery, but not AC cord.

on some older laptops the battery has to be installed for it to turn on.
if the battery don't hold a charge it's no good.. but you need it to get power from plug.

Wont boot past toshiba logo

Unplug the AC adaptor, remove the battery, then press and hold the power button down for a minimum of 30 seconds. Now replace the battery and see if it powers up. If not repreat the process but this time leave the battery out and only plug in the AC. If it still doesn't power on repeat the process again and this time replace the battery and plug the AC back in. If it still doesn't power up it's time to start checking the hardware. Remove the ram and try it with only one stick. You might need to try each one individually to see if either works. If that doesn't help remove the hard drive and see if it will post to the Toshiba screen. If that doesn't help you'll probably need to take it to a service center.

Laptop will turn on,but wont boot up

L300 boot problems

L300 series laptops are very good normally but don't boot up if there is a device in the USB slot or a CD/DVD in the drive.
If it still refuses to POST, remove the AC Adapter, remove the battery and remove the hard drive.
Power the unit up without the hard drive and it should complete POST and complain that there is no hard drive. If that doesn't work remove AC adapter, ensure battery is disconnected and remove hard drive and RAM. Try again. If it still doesn't work, you have a mother board fault and it needs a service centre. www.Toshiba.com will help you out.
If it does work at one of the options, when you have closed the laptop down, replace the RAM first and test, then the Hard Drive.
Hope this fixes your problem.

We have toshiba satellite pro laptop which was working fine. Now it will not turn on and the caps lock, f10 and f11 lights are illuminated even though laptop not turned on. Nothing happens when we press...

Remove all power sources.
Remove hard drive and Ram.
Fit AC adapter and press on. If the laptop complains as there are now no periferals, power down the laptop.
If it still dosn't power up at all, you have a motherboard fault and cannot continue. A Toshiba Computer Repair Cetre will help you out.
If it did work;
Disconnect power source.
Fit RAM and try again. If that still works but now states that there is no OS, power it down and with power source removed fit the hard drive.
Power up again with AC Adapter. Hope fully all now should be well or at least you now know where your fault lies.
I hope that helps.

Laptop Toshiba Satellite A200 Model No. PSAF6A-02C01N fail boot

Try removing / swapping / reseating the memory.

Try booting with one stick only, if the top slot doesn't work, try booting the bottom slot. Try both sticks.

Let me know what happens.

Toshiba satelite A100 no power at all

The ac power pack may be faulty, check it with a multimeter, the voltage should be slightly higher than the voltage printed on the label on the power pack.
If you can borrow another working ac power pack (has to be the same as the ac power pack), test it on the laptop.
Also reseat the RAM modules and the hard disk and see if it boots up.
If it is a bin job remove the hard drive, if the hard drive is OK, put it into an USB drive case and use it as an external hard drive.
