Fault can be from the magnetron, the main capacitor, the door latch contacts , the controller unit or the transformer.
You must use a logic to check from the fuse to the magnetron to the capacitor .Look for short only after checking if there is no residueal high voltage or you will end up damaging the meter.
If high voltage is present during the microwave cycle then the magnetron can be defective.
Please also check for the temperature cut off mounted on the walls of the chamber.

Kenmore microwave 721 85032010 will turn on but won't heat or spin

Chances are that is just a defective top or bottom door switch or its mount.
See our help file on door switches here.
Also, that model number does not show up as a valid US Kenmore model.
Please check the tag in the cooking cavity or elsewhere n the oven and let us know if you need further help.

If the turntable does move as well it is likely the inverter (power) or the Magnetron itself.

I have the danby designer Mod DMW162W-ORT that won`t heat at all but everything else works. Hums a bit louder but will not warm.

The Magnetron in your unit is no longer resonating properly. The Magnetron produces the microwave frequencies and when it resonates properly, it will provide the excitation to heat your item(s). As well, the diode that accompanies the magnetron needs to be replaced as well. Should it be under warranty, take it back. Out of warranty? Have an appliance tech repair it (usually around $175) or get a new microwave.

This is typical for most microwaves. No such thing as quality any more.

GE MICROWARE WON,T HEAT UP

Likely problem: Blown magnetron. On microwaves, this can generally go dead, usually with a popping sound. Solution: A: Call an appliance repairman to replace the magnetron in the device, or B: buy a new microwave. Depending on how much you paid for it, you might be getting a better deal on either end.
