Question about Riccar Sewing Machines
I suspect what is happening is that the speed controller, is faulty, that or, perhaps as you think, there may be a wire faulty, inside on the socket. however if the foot controller has been replaced, than I would think that it is the internal electronics of the speed controller that has spiked, or damaged. This is a fairly major fault. I don't really think it's a DIY'er, however if one could get hold of the parts, then fitting a new board, isn't too hard. But i would recommend that you get it looked at by a sewing machine repair place, and ask then for a "Quote" before proceeding with any repair. This way you can get an idea of exactly what is wrong, and if it is indeed able/worth being fixed, as it may be the speed controller, but it also, could be one of a number of things that present the same symptoms, but have differing "Causes" however ALL are fairly terminal, and expensive to repair. Getting a "Quote" allows you to decide to repair or replace.
