How to remove black square from the screen without the original remote?

Usually need the original remote--if you can with buttons (not likely on JVC) try to set it to CC4 which is almost never active and should remove the text box that you are seeing.

Note: if using a cable or sat box look there also as most have the text feature also.

Sometimes its in the menu of the tv . Look thru the menu you should find it . If your remote has the button on it keep pressing it should give you different cc1 cc2 cc3 cc4 - text1 text2 text3 text4. text mode is not what you want it will block out the picture except for the edges .To turn off simply press the cc button until the off is displayed .
