Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

Insignia NS-LTDVD26-09 won't stay powered on. Power supply board MIP260B-1 made by Chi Mei has two bulging capacitors that are the same, 1000uF. One cap appears to be wrong size when compared to pics of replacement boards. Trying to find out what size the larger cap is. Easy to find and replace if I just knew the uF of the larger cylinder type cap. Doubt I can find a schematic anywhere for this. Any ideas? Caps are C109 & C110. C109 is the wrong one

When you plug in the set, does the standby light come on? Most likely you are dealing with either a failed power supply or main board. I would start with checked the power supply for bulged capacitors.

NS-LTDVD26-09 power

Good day!!!!

That problem is usually cause of faulty capacitors on the power supply board..

Just follow this instruction to fix your TV..

1. Open the back cover of your TV.
2. Look at the power supply board..Its normally connected to the power cord..
3. After that,,try to look at the actual image of capacitors if it is bulged on the top so that you can easily determine the bad capacitors..
4. After that,,try to replaced the bad capacitors using soldering iron and soldering lead..replaced the capacitors only with the same type ratings and value..
5. Some of the capacitors not bulged so its better if have a capacitance meter

INSIGNia NS-50P650A11 SHOWS RED LIGHT BUT A BLANK SCREEN

That problem is usually have 2 causes..Its either power supply board or main board..

Please take this steps on how to determine the problem:
1. Open the back cover.
2. Check the power supply output...It should have 5vdc for the main board..12vdc or 16vdc for the audio and 24vdc for the back-light inverter..
3. If those 3 voltage supplies have encountered voltage drop...The problem could be on power supply board..
4. If the power supply output is normal..The problem could be on the main board...
5. If the problem is power supply you should check if the capacitors are bulged on the top and try to replaced it..If you can't do that you can purchased new power supply board..
6. If the problem is on main board there is no D.I.Y repair on that so you need to buy a new main board that fits to your TV..
Hope this solution will be helpful..

Thanks for using fixya...

Need to purchase a power board for an Insignia ns-pdp32-09 tv

You can likely repair this board yourself for hundreds less than a replacement board.

There's a good chance you have failing electrolytic capacitors in the power board.

Any caps in these sections that look bulged at the top, or bulged/leaking at the bottom need to be replaced.

If you aren't tech savvy, don't worry, read the rest of this solution and watch the videos.

If you are handy with a soldering iron and can identify the power supply and inverter / FM section for the backlights, an inexpensive handful of capacitors will likely fix you right up.
Match the capacitance on the capacitors. Go over voltage if you can, and still have them fit.
IE - it's not a bad idea to replace a 10V cap with a 16V or 25V or even a 50V, but don't replace a 680uF cap with a 500uF or a 1000uF (unless you are positive it's only doing ripple filtering, and even then, you should go OVER, not under the uF rating).

Most of the caps that go are 10V 1000uF or 3300uF.

I found some great videos of the procedure (for many Samsungs with the same issue) on youtube.

As you can see, this issue spans plasma TVs, as well as large and small LCD TVs and monitors.
The parts are cheap, and skill required is minimal as demonstrated by the woman who had previously never soldered before in the third video.

MONITOR CHIME CMV 221dI WON'T TURN ON

There's a good chance you have failing electrolytic capacitors either in the power section or the inverter section or both.
Any caps in these sections that look bulged at the top, or bulged/leaking at the bottom need to be replaced.
If you repeatedly turn it off and on, eventually it'll probably stay on, but every time you turn it off, the TV will get harder and harder to start up until one day it just won't.
Sometimes you have to do the opposite to start it up and unplug it for some time and then try again.

If you aren't tech savvy, don't worry, read the rest of this solution and watch the videos.
