Harrision gc5550. Why is bottom stitching loose?

Usually, loose threads under the fabric indicate a loose upper tension. Be sure that you RAISE the presser foot BEFORE threading the upper thread. This allows the thread to seat properly in the tension guides. If the loose threads are still appearing under the fabric, try tightening the upper tension. The upper and lower threads should meet in the middle of the fabric.

I can't move the upper stitch pattern selctor to the K position.

The machine has a series of cams inside and a cam follower which slides up and down the cam stack. The problem most likely is the cam follower is not moving back far enough to allow the lever to move. This can be adjusted but it is difficult to do if you are not familiar with sewing machine mechanics. please follow my link. I may be able to guide you.

1967 Bernina 707 Minimatic is not running freely

Have you been oiling the bearings per the guide? Try to isolate the upper mechanism versus the lower by rocking the handwheel and observing which causes the bind (take the bobbin and needle thread off to prevent jamming). You may have to remove some of the covers to see most of it. As long as no gearing becomes shifted or uncoupled, you should not cause trouble. Try taking the motor belt off to see if the motor itself may be binding. Good to see people keeping old, but still working machines running

1222e has loose lower shaft that drives the feed

You can buy the service manual from eaby or you can download it from sewingwishlist.com in pdf format. Once in a while my 1222SE would act up. It's been really good having a service manual when you need it. As far as I know all the gears can be easily replaced by loosening it's flathead setscrew.

Singer Model 5050 Timing Problem

Actually, timing of needle vs, shuttle is not very easy job several factor you should check on.There is belt ot sometime a shafting with worm gear and helical gear under machine w/c drive the shuttle with the bobbins in timing order,Any one of them is present on the timing adjustment can be done by releasing the belt or the helical gear, besure machine is unplug then set all mechanism on low dead center meaning the needle move to utmost lower position catching this by the shuttle and bobbins at center position. No motion applied if this was set up,engage the belt with pulley and the bobbins link holder tigh allenscrew besure the needle is lower dead center at the center of shullle bobbins catching needle without motion when setting back at original position. If this was made manually move it on handwheel going up and side down the needle gradually if the needle move freely several time and it was catching this by the shuttle hook bobbins.if ok put thread bobbins and upper thread dial tension with the needle.Move machine on handwheel try to catch the bobbins thread,If this so your machine is ready to sew again if problem occurs on alignment repeat adjustment on perpect alignment, besure all parts on upper casing of machine specially two drive gear are in normal alignment.

Thread knotting and bunching on the backside of design

Knotting or looping on the bottom is most likely from not enough upper thread tension or way to much bobbin thread tension.
When you thread your machine, make sure the thread goes inside the second thread guide where the thread comes down in front of your machine. The presser foot must be in the up position for that guide to open and allow the thread to correctly "seat" in that guide.
Try this...Before you thread the needle, pull on the thread. With the foot in the up position there should not be any tension at all...lower the foot and you should have to tug slightly on the thread to get it to move. If lowering the foot does not increase your upper thread tension then you are not in the thread guide correctly or you have a mechanical problem with the upper thread tensioner.
One last thing to check. You can get a wax build up or lint packed in the thread tension guide. This is a common problem. Run a Q-tip through the guide and clean it out. If that guide gets built up with wax or lint it will not clamp down on the upper thread and you will not have the correct tension.
With the bobbin case threaded, pull out the thread. It should not be super tight or loose. It should be like pulling Scotch tape off a roll as far as tension goes.
Get your upper and lower thread tensions set up correctly and your problem will be solved.
Good luck, bushvideo

Threading a husqvarna huskylock 1001L serger

Solution taken from "Handbook for Huskylock Sewing Machine Models 1001L/1000L/1000"

1. Raise the presser foot by using presser foot lever. When the presser foot is raised, the two thread tension discs in the thread tension control panel are released so that thread passes freely between them. Otherwise thread tension may not be correct.

Important! When threading the needle, always be sure to lift the presser foot lever, and also take care to thread in the proper order.

Threading order:
1. Upper looper thread (green)
2. Lower looper thread (blue)
3. Double chain stitch looper thread (purple) in case of 5 thread stitch or double chain stitch
4. Right needle thread (red)
5. Left needle thread or double chain needle thread (yellow)

Caution!
Because the left thread tension dial (yellow) is used for either the left needle or the double chain stitch needle, these needles will never be used at the same time.

Upper looper (green) sequence:
1. Thread holder (silver triangle openings attached to thread holder stand)
2. Thread guide (flat silver clips just behind thread tension disc)
3. Thread tension disc (circular knobs with numbers for tension setting)
4. Pull thread around upper looper guide and upper looper
5. Pull thread into hole of upper looper

Lower looper (blue)
Repeat 1, 2, 3.
4. Pull thread around guide (see color coded chart inside front serger cover).

Easy threading mechanism (for lower looper)
1. Pull out the lower looper threading lever
2. Thread the lower looper and position the thread on hook of the lower looper
threading lever.
3. Push the lower looper threading lever back to its basic position while
holding the end of the thread.

Caution:
When returning the lower looper threading lever, always make sure that the two
blue triangle marks (directional arrows) meet each other.

Right needle thread (red)
Left needle thread (yellow)
Important: Thread the needles after threading of lower looper and upper looper.
First raise the presser foot lever, and then thread the needle threads in order shown in color coded thread guide.

Globe Cub 7 sewing machine

Hi Quinny1420...If you are certain that it is a tension issue, first ensure that your upper threading is correctly inserted/passing through the upper tension discs, and the general upper tension starting point is between 3.5 and 5.5. Increase the upper tension to pull up loose stitching on the bottom. Last resort is to alter your bobbin tension. Clockwise to increase, and counter-clockwise to decrease. Turns should only be made in 1/5 increments between test sews.....Please update your post of your progress...good luck my friend
