How do I find my SSID?

The SSID of a wireless network is determined by the wireless access point (AP) that you are using. Some AP's have a label on the bottom that give the SSID and Key for that particular network. Some AP's broadcast the SSID and that can be read off the air when you attempt to connect. Those are the 'available' networks that show up in the wireless network list. If you are trying to connect to a network that is not your own, you need to get the connection data, including the SSID and network key, from the person providing the network. There are open networks that broadcast their SSID and don't require any key, but those networks are not secure and data transmitted on them can be stolen.

Were do i find the pin number

If by pin you mean the KEY for wireless SSID then you have

Log in to the AP by connecting a PC with AP via wired cable.

Point to web address: http://192.168.1.1 and input user and pass (IP may change due to config)

Go to wireless->Security

Change the key in Passphrase and you are good to go..

WEP password for Westell 327w

v\:* {behavior:url(#default#VML);} o\:* {behavior:url(#default#VML);} p\:* {behavior:url(#default#VML);} .shape {behavior:url(#default#VML);} v\:textbox {display:none;} Slide 1 .O {color:black; font-size:149%;} .O1 {color:black; font-size:149%;} a:link {color:#CCCCFF !important;} a:active {color:#3333CC !important;} a:visited {color:#B2B2B2 !important;} Open Internet Explorer & in the URL:// bar type: 192.168.1.1 or dslrouter.

Select Wireless and then select Security from the Configuration
menu.

If you use WPA-PSK or WEP
wireless security, you must configure your computer’s wireless adapter for the security code that you use.

At the Wireless Security drop-down menu, select the desired security option

WEP: Selecting this will enable you to set up WEP security on the VersaLink. The AP card
supports 64-bit, 128-bit, or 256-bit WEP encryption. If WEP is selected, any station can connect to the AP (as long as its SSID matches the AP SSID). If wireless security is disabled, the risk of someone nearby accessing the AP is maximized

type in the desired WEP Password....do not forget to save...

Wirless connection wont connect to network.

On the WLAN world, exist a encryption key for connection. You will be able to see the "antenna", but until you enter the key you will not be able to access the network or the internet. First, disable the wireless security and try. Once you have verified the connection to internet then you add security. Use WEP.

Problem using wireless access point to conect desktop PC to WLAN

I have solved the problem:
- first, I had to change the management address in CF-WFAP into address that could be recognized by the router (i used 192.168.1.2),
- DHCP turned off, and set default gateway and DNS to 192.168.1.1. as in router, computer IP was set to 192.168.1.xxx, push "apply", change web address to new one,
- set AP mode to station-infrastructure, push "apply" buton to restart AP,
- set security to same security as in router and copy key into proper field, push "apply" again to reset the AP
- finaly check wireless station around and choose the router (same encription)

My wireless access point SMC

Thank you cgahongayire.

Follow these steps to retrieve the wireless key:

1) Connect a computer wired directly to your accesspoint.
2) Assign a static IP on the computer with the range of 192.168.2.x (x is any number from 3-253).
3) If it prompts you for a user name and a password, user name is admin and password is smcadmin and click Login.
4) Select Advanced Setup. It will give you the window for the access point.
5) Select Security under Radio Interface 2. You can see which security is set on your AP. If it is set as WPA, the shared key is your network key. If WEP, the network key across the selected key is your password.

Take note that these instructions are if the IP settings of the Wireless AP have not been changed. If it is, you have to ask what is the IP first.

Wep/wpa

Hi, doesn't really matter which, what is important is what ever it is you choose, it should be the same/consistent all through out the wireless network/system. example, if you choose wep $ key is 12345 in your router/AP, then all you wifi clients should be using wep $ key of 12345. Choosing or not choosing what wireless security mode to use is not preventing you to log unto the internet, they are designed that you can securely communicate/acces the router/ap and if granted acces, the router/ap will then be your gateway, so first you must be connected/logged on to the router/ap before you can share its internet. Hope this be of some help/ pls post again how things turn up. Kind regards.
