Wheelwriter 3500

Hi,
My 3500 typewriter beeps whenever you touch a key. I changed the batteries while the typewriter was turned off & when I turned it back on all of my plays were deleted. What happened? Please Help! :(

GuruDoes it beep and type or just beep? If it types try holding code and pressing S. If you changed batteries with the machine off the memory is gone.
