Question about SkyGolf SkyCaddie Handheld GPS Unit
From time to time, my new skycaddie SG5 will turn on without anyone hitting the on button. If you hit the on/off button, it says that it is powering down, and actually does power down for a few seconds, but then powers up again by itself. No additionl buttons were touched. I also found it powered on while charging even though I had left it in the off mode. The unit eventually times out and turns off but may turn back on by itself at any time.
SG5 model turns itself off during rounds after being on less than 10 minutes. Have replaced the battery and reloaded the operating system. Still fails. Also now it does not Autoselect the course any more. Anyone else having similar problems?

You can solve the problem of the unit turning on automatically during the re-charge process by doing the following: Open the flap on the bottom of the unit where you plug in the recharger adapter. Blow vigorously onto the unit in that area. This will loosen little dust gfragments that accumulate and it will work fine. I ran into a Skygolf person at a Golf Fest locally and he told me to do this and it worked!

Support reps are paid by their company to KNOW what their device and software can and can't do, does or doesn't do, so if you need support why call them and argue or doubt their assistance. This is what's wrong with over half the people who need/require support.
Your SG2 did not do this, because one, the SG2 DOES NOT have a backlight feature. All SkyCaddies however, do have the ability to power off automatically, and those power off times can be set by certains intervals, within the device. Once turned off, you will need to power it back on, it's that simple. Also, IF your device is plugged into your computer or is charging, it may power on, you are not losing power when this occurs.
Lastly, as a consumer, we want to buy something and have it WORK, bottom line. But there is ALWAYS the possiblity that the device has a problem and may have to be sent in for a repair or a look-at if all troubleshooting is exhausted and the issue is not from user error.
