My dish network guide does not update. random time slots say "No info available". I unplugged the receiver and the machine rebooted, but the guide did not change.

Check if your phone line to the receiver is working via the phone line. Make sure the receiver is correctly programmed for your phone service (outside line prefix if needed, rotary or pulse dialing.

Are updates enabled? The program guide is downloaded overnight when the receiver is off. If the unit is on, the updated information may not be downloaded. You can reset the time that this download will occur (it will turn off automatically at the scheduled time if not disabled). (Menu - 8 - 5 is the appropriate part of the menu on one receiver to set the time and enable the feature.)

You can also use the Inactivity Standby feature on some receivers to get the program guide if you leave the unit on all night. (Menu > Preferences > Inactivity Standby) By default a prompt will ask you if you want it to go to the standby mode after 4 hours of no activity (remote or front panel).

How long did you have the unit off when you rebooted it? Try leaving it unplugged for 15 seconds (no trickle power).

What time does the program guide suppose to download

The nightly updates allow the receivers to update software and the programming guide. if you need to force a download on the guide simply unplug the receiver from the wall outlet for 10 seconds and plug it back in, allow it to power back on by itself, acquire signal, and download the guide. It says no info on the programs I want to record and won't record them. The guide also shows no info in those areas.


Make sure the receiver is powered off each night so it can receive updates through the satellite to the guide.

You can force a guide download by unplugging the receiver for 10 seconds and plugging it back in. If that doesn't work, you can run a check switch test from Menu > System Setup > Installation > Point Dish > Check Switch > Test. Let it finish, then exit out of the menu and let it acquire signal and download the guide.

The channel guide only shows no information available most of the time


You are getting that message because the receiver is not updating the Electronic Program Guide (EPG). Try unplugging the receiver from your electrical outlet for about 10 seconds (make sure all lights on receiver go out) and plug back in. This will cause the receiver to reboot and re-acquire satellite signal. Allow it also to download the program guide. After you get your channel back, pull up your guide, go into the future to see if it updated.

If it did not update, you'll need to run a check switch test. Press Menu on your DISH remote; should have Main Menu on TV screen. Press 6 (System Setup), 1 (Installation), and 1(Point Dish). Highlight the CHECK SWITCH button on the upper right of the screen and press the Select button on remote. On the Installation Summary screen, highlight the TEST button at the bottom of screen and press the Select button on the remote. This will initiate the test. Allow the test to complete. Once completed, exit out of each screen till you get to Acquiring Satellite Signal on TV screen. After acquisition completion, allow it to download the program guide. If this doesn't fix the problem, you may need a new receiver. I hope this helps.

The receiver is getting a software update and if the message stays on your screen for an extended period of time the download could be failing.

Try unplugging the receiver for 10-15 seconds and then plug it back in to allow the receiver to reboot itself. If the message returns and doesn't disappear after a 20 minute timeframe we will have to replace the receiver.

My DISH Network DVR-625 DTV Receiver randomly freezes and resets itself and will only record 6-9 minutes of a program even though i have 50+ hours of available space. i've reset it several times. help?


I am sorry you are having problem with your picture freezing. You said you reset the receiver several times. Did you press the power on the receiver and release or did you unplug the receiver from the electrical outlet? Try unplugging it for about 10 seconds if you haven't already done so. If the problem persists, we'll need to replace the receiver. If you have any other questions, please post to this site.

Receiver will only show non-hd programs

Hello, this is Nick Franta with DISH Network Customer Support.

To resolve this issue try resetting the receiver by unplugging it for 10 seconds. The receiver will reboot itself once its plugged back in.

Also in the guide you can click the guide button and it will take you to the different menu options which will be highlighted in the top left hand corner. Guide has the ability to show just HD channels, all channels you subscribe to, and all channels DISH offers.

Why do I get no info with four of the local Channels of Milwaukee 30 wvcy and 49 wmbe and41wmlw and 36wmvt Mptv?

Hello there! Dan Busa with Dish Network's customer support. You probably have an issue getting the guide to download it can be a glitch. Unplug the receiver for ten seconds, if its still persisting hit guide 999 and browse about ten times it should prompt the guide to download.

Guide shows info not available and is recording all kinds of weird stuff.

Recording weird stuff:

sounds like you have accidently created timers.

hit the dvr button 3 times then arrow up to 'Timers'

arrow up to 'Edit List'

here you can select the timers you do not want then select delete

Info Not Available:

run a check switch test

hit menu 6 - 1 -1

highlight 'check switch' and press select

highlight ' test' and press select

wait for the test to finish

if an error pops up there is probably a signal issue, otherwise exit out

you will get attn 015 message, allow this to finish and you will get 330

this is the guide downloading... if this does not happen go to
menu - 6 - 6 and select yes

if it still does not download call dish network

We have a black screen with no audio. We are able to pull up the guide, but we can't watch tv or anything recorded on the DVR. How do we fix it?

No fatal error, try this. If you would, please unplug the receiver from the power outlet for about 2 minutes. After 2 minutes, plug it back in and let me know when it comes on (it will do this by itself). Once it does, it should be showing Message 015, “Acquiring Satellite Signal”.

Dish network program guide never updates automatically

Unplug your receiver from the power outlet and repower after 60 seconds. This should update the system and stop your issue. If it persists let me know. Thanks for using Fix Ya.
