Cannon Power Shot A75 when I turn it on, screen is black?

This sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager, and is a known defect for your particular model camera.. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free if you live in the US, Canada, and a select few other countries. If you live outside the US, contact Canon support for your country to see if they'll still honor the advisory (some still will, especially if you stress you knowledge that this is a known defect of the camera). there has been a recall on certain models of the powershot series. check their website to find out if yours is on the list.

Hey birdstrike,
According to the manufacturer there are two options. You can try pressing the display (DISP.) button, and if that doesn't work you are probably going to have to get it serviced by an authorized service center. There is a know problem with the CCD sensor on this camera and other model cameras that causes a malfunction when the camera is exposed to heat or humidity. Canon is covering this repair, and I have included a link below to the instructions on what to do.

Try Rebooting the camera. Take out the existing batteries and insert some new ones. Then, turn it on and the lens should go back inside!

Hope this helps.

Flat cable between screen and r\mainbord damage. If you can open it check for eart wire to lcd if is tighten.
