Transferring video files to a computer for further editing

I have some friends that purchased this particular device. They transferred video clips from vhs and a disk to several dvds using this recorder. They would like for me to put these on my computer and edit them further.

the dvds they made, when I put in my computer show to be blank but look like they have been written to on the back.

what formats do the videos save to the dvds? how can i put their video clips onto my computer ? or can the recorder hook up to my computer directly?

THANK YOU much!!!! I am running out of time to complete this project for them so i appreciate any help you can give me.

First you have to make sure they are NOT recording in VR mode.
But i would say it sounds like they have not finalized the discs.
To get them onto your PC you would need to convert/cut them with something like total video converter. If you want to edit more than just cutting you would need another program for that.

Can anyone with a RH1777 help me finalise my dvd blank disk with his/her recorder?

If you can't find someone with the same recorder you could try putting the DVD into a computer DVD drive. It might be possible to get the video files off the DVD. DVD files are called VOB. You can get free software that will play them. It might even rip the files from the disc for you. You can then transfer them to a DVD disc using the computer.

How to transfer Panasonic DMR-E80H recorded DVDs to computer

I have to agree with XELIAM regarding finishing the disk, under the DVD "FUNCTIONS" selection from the remote. I also use the SLYSOFT products to transfer my videos to what ever other mode of video I wish to have, whether iPOD (MP4), or DIVX (AVI) or loads of other options. Slysoft makes a GREAT product

I want to transfer all files on DVD recorder to PC

There is no function on the EH65 to back up your files to your computer or an external drive.

The only thing you can do is transfer your cherished files to DVD-R then put them on your computer. Any other way, like playing the file and re-recording on your computer will result in poor reproduction.

GOT I/O ERROR AND DRIVE WILL NOT READ DISK?

The Windows error "I/O Device Error" means there is an error in the computer's ability to read data when you try to install a program or to copy data from your CD or DVD drive. This issue is likely to occur when Windows tries to use a transfer mode that your CD drive cannot use or does not recognize. To resolve this issue, you will need to change the transfer mode in your IDE channel properties.
Steps To Change IDE Properties if (!window.netshel_ord) { netshel_ord=Math.random()*10000000000000000; } if (!window.netshel_tile) { netshel_tile=1; } document.write(''); netshel_tile++; window.google_render_ad();
  1. Click the Start button
  2. Right click My Computer
  3. Select Manage from the resulting menu
  4. In the Computer Management window, select Device Manager
  5. In the right pane, click to expand IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers
  6. Identify your CD/DVD drive in the expanded menu and right click the appropriate drive
  7. Select Properties
  8. In the Properties windows, click the Advanced Settings tab
  9. In the Transfer Mode box that represents your CD/DVD drive (typically Device 1); open the dropdown menu and select PIO Only
  10. Click ok and exit all windows
If this does not resolve your issue, then you will need to go back using the above procedure and change the Device 1 in step #9 back to "DMA if available". Then, change Device 0 to "PIO Only" in the Transfer Mode box.
For reference, the Device 0 is the Primary IDE Channel and the Device 1 is the secondary IDE Channel.
After you change your settings, make sure you restart your system so that the computer recognizes the changes you have made. After you reboot, check the settings to make sure they are in effect. If they are, your device should now work properly.

Hope that helps! Should you have any further questions, please feel free to post them here.

I recently got a Philips DVD Recorder/VCR: Model No. DVDR3510V/05; Serial No. 0751 010790. I have recorded a VCR tape and would like to transfer this to a DVD±R disc. Can you tell me how to delete...

After you transfer the data to the DVD, you can use a DVD editing program like the DVD remake found on this link

and you can edit out all of the commercials

let me know if you have further questions with this

Copying disc of videocanea

With a combo machine you are usually stuck making another disk from your VHS tape-unless yours has a hard drive. Or you could make a copy with your computer DVD recorder-much faster by the way.
I don't know about adding music and naration it all depends on what your manual says your machine can do.

Why doesn't DVD disc play on my computer?

Hello again

I don't know what gear you are using or exactly what you want to do, but I assume you want to put some of your old video vhs tapes or something you have borrowed, on to your computer.

Your DVD/HDD recorder will probably support DVD-R as well as DVD-RAM unless you are very unlucky. If it's a Panasonic it will definitely support DVD-R. DVD-R are reasonably cheap these days so you could use them for recording instead of DVD-RAM, then easily play them on your computer's drive. You would have the added advantage of a back up disc as well. If you want to edit first, use the HDD on the highest quality setting then transfer your edited work to a DVD-R..

Alternatively, you could buy an external dvd drive for your computer that supports -RAM, such as Icy Box or similar. External drives are reasonably priced and if you plan to transfer a lot of video, it would be a worthwhile investment.

Yes, you could probably connect the DVR direct you your computer but you would need an appropriate media card plus suitable software.

Good luck....hope this helps...

My Apple computer will not play the DVD's that I transferred from VHS. Why?

Doubtful. If the drive won't read them, it may just be the brand on disk that is preventing it. Changing software settings won't improve anything if the drive in the computer can't read the disk.
