Question about Husqvarna 160 CC Honda OHC Engine 21 in

1 Answer

I think my lawn boy put chainsaw gas in my mower. It races up and down. I burned up the old gas and put new gas in it. I had this happen once before. I am disabled so hire my yard work done, but hire stupid kids. Are the jets blocked? can I clean them out with some addetive? Do I have to take the carborator apart to clean the jets? Thanks!

If you can, remove the air filter and get some carb cleaner aerosol spray to spray into the carb. A carb cleaning is always good, but this is the easy/poorman's way. Attempt to start it immediately after using the spray and re-spray cleaner into the throat of carb while it is idling/running. Continue doing this for a short time. You may want to also remove the spark plug and check/clean or replace it too. Remember this little engine is just like a modern day car engine and needs proper maintenance and attention to perform like it is supposed too. That means it needs clean oil, strong spark, fresh gas and clean air! Repost if you need to. We have your email addy handy.

Have a self-starting, self propelled toro lawn mower about 5 years old, I ran it out of gas by accident & now it won't start

It seems to be an obstruction in your fuel delivery system. Get a can of ether and a spray a short burst of it into the breather area near the carburetor, if the mower starts up and then stalls out, then you may need to get your carburetor serviced.

I started my lawn boy mower model 10642C near the cage part on the side it started to smoke and smell like something was burning.

This is the exhaust port. If you over primed it before starting, it will smoke and smell like burning oil.

I have the same one and I've done that before.

I haven't used my mower in a few weeks. It worked fine before, and now won't start. I can't really tell if it's turning at all, or if nothing is starting to begin with. It look a bit low on oil, but I...

You might have an accumulation of water in the fuel tank/carb.

Drain them both and make sure you put clean fresh fuel in.

The gas can might be contaminated too so be watchful.

Check your spark plug too. Remove it and make sure it isnt water or gas fouled. *(wet and not sparking) A fuel fouled plug usually needs replacement. Water...not so much.

Good luck and be careful!

Does 2 cycle oil get mixed with gas on McCulloch chainsaw or just put gas in?

Fuel/Oil Mixture
  1. Use a quality 2 cycle oil and mix it to the OIL supplier's recommended ratio. Today I use Stihl 2 cycle oil mixed @ 50:1 in a Pioneer that I purchased new in 1980. There are no gouges or scratches on the piston or cylinder and I have no carbon build up on the piston top. The manual (on stone tablets) recommends 24:1. Over the years the mixture has leaned from 24:1 (Saw Recommendation) to 28:1 (Lawn boy mower recommendation) to 32:1 (Oil provider 8oz/2gal - used for many years) and finally the last 5 (±) years 50:1 (Stihl 2.6oz/1gal)
  2. Any fuel containing ethanol is not good with chainsaws. Mix what you expect to use within a few months. Anything over 6 months old use up in a 4 cycle engine. HTH
