Check if the carrier will move by hand when turned off if it does wipe the carrier rail with a cloth and light oil .

As soon as I turn our Swintec 2640 on it starts beeping very rapidly.

Be sure the printwheel doesn't have any bent or broken spakes. Try it without the bribbon and correction tape to see if they are hitting the P/W.

Swintec 640 margin release

If it is the left margin, you touch the carriage return button to find the current position of the left margin, then touch the mar release button and backspace to the new left margin location, then depress the left mar key. You should here a beep. You are done.

When turned on - a beep is all i get-keys won,t work at all. 7040 swintec typewriter

Sounds like a broken wire attached to the carrier motor. If you remove the shell from the typewriter you can see the wiring inside. I suspect one of the wires has come disconnected or broken. Replace the wiring assembly or you can try to strip the two ends of the broken wire and twist them together, then use some electrical tape to secure.

When i turn it on it will beep every letter i enter but won't type anything it is a swintec model-600

try putting the machine in test mode. You can do this by holding down the margin release key while turning it on. Keep holding it down until it starts typing by itself. Then turn it off and on again and see if it works.
