This is an ongoing issue for users, and rightfully so. Small diameter line out of fuel tank (has filter in-tank on end) connects to the side of the carburetor that has the fuel pump....that is the cover without the hole in it. Other larger diameter fuel line out of tank connects to the longer nipple on the external purge/primer bulb. The bulb "pulls" fresh fuel from the fuel tank to the carb and then out of the carb to itself, where it then pushes any air/old fuel back into the fuel tank. The remaining larger diameter fuel line in this setup goes from the metering chamber (has cover with writing on it and a vent-hole) side of the carburetor to the smaller nipple on the purge/primer bulb. Years ago on 2-stroke trimmers, primers were not even used, choked the carb with a slide lever and gravity let fuel enter the carb from above...a few pulls, a "pop"...slide it off of choke and away you went.
If the purge/primer bulb is on top of the carb...small line from carb body to small hole in tank with filter. Larger diameter line goes from the bulb on the fuel pump side of the carb to the larger hole in the fuel tank where the line is held in place with a nylon nipple connector that keeps the line from pulling out of the fuel tank.

Only runs good on half choke - will not take gas on open choke.

sounds like a carb problem for sure the diaphragm in the carb has hole in it or the jets are clogged forcing it pull fuel at half choke and not fully open also make sure your gas lines are clear and free of trash but i would put a kit in the carb for sure.hope this helps.

My power blower will start but only runs a few seconds & dies. We put a new spark plug in it which didn't help because it starts fine. We recently had to mix a new container of gas for it with the...

These little engines require maintenance just like your car does....even more than just a spark plug change. They have issues with parts in the carburetor going bad, carbon build up in the engine and muffler and sometimes even ignition problems. A good bet most of the time is a fuel delivery issue so you have to start with your fuel mix (you said was good) go to the fuel tank (where there is a fuel filter)...the fuel lines (which deteriorate over time and tend to mess up the carb when they do)...etc. Start with the basics and continue on. Rebuild kits are available for the carb and its not too hard...that may be what's needed as the new ethanol laced gas we have is hard on the small carb parts.

Weedeater starts strong , briefly runs and completely stops.

If it is not REEKING of unburned gas, likely the idle circuit in the carb is fine, but your high-speed jet/pintle seat is caked with crud...

If it was stored with fuel in it, you are going to find that nothing short of a rebuild on the carb is going to help you. :( Luckily, if you are handy many of these smaller diaphragm type carbs can be rebuild with tweezers, slot screw drivers, needle-nosed pliers, can of spray carb cleaner and a rebuild kit from any hardware shop. All told you're going to at most spend $16 bucks. If the engine is otherwise sound with all the work you put into replacing lines, fuel pickup/filer/stainer, the carburetor rebuild route will perk it right up. Good luck!

Poulan leaf blower won't start

Check the fuel lines for cracks/breaks. If they are o.k., then:

You will need to disassemble the carburetor and spray with carb.cleaner.Make sure the small screen is free of debris. (Should be able to see daylight through it.)

Use a Den Tek Brush, (,to clean the small portals in carb. These portals can become blocked. Reassemble and start.

If the carb. parts are more than 4 years old, you may have to replace them.

If you need further assistance on:
1. Fuel line replacement or
2. Carburetor kit replacement

Just let me know.

Poulan Weed Eater PPB250E won't accelerate

definatley running out of fuel. this sounds dumb-just check it. the fuel line from the tank to carb is made of tygon, it gets hard and cracks allowing air to enter fuel line and lean out the unit, sometimes till it quits. also drain the fuel from the tank, look in tank, youll see a hose with a weighted fuel filter in the end of it, get a peice of wire, carfully pull it out and chack for cracks or a broken off 'clunk' fuel filter. then which is hard, the fuel pump-a little built in vacume diaphram in the carb that re-verberates with engine vacume and pumps fuel at high demand times. there will be a metal cover on the carb with a hole in the middle, carfully remove the screws ans the diaphram will be part of the gasket so dont rip it or youll need a carb rebuild kit. look for rips or tears or a broken return spring. also make sure the carb hasnt loosened up from the engine, this will cause a vacume leak and then the pump wont keep up. check the lines first that what you will probably find. good luck!
