Question about GE DWSR483EBWW Electric Dryer

1 Answer

My GE Dryer just stopped working. The washer is working, I've checked the circut breaker and the GFI breaker and they're all working. Is there a reset button?

Kenmore 110-88752793 washer dryer. Tub filled up for the rinse cycle and then stopped. Tried turning on the dryer and that has no power either. Cycled the circuit breaker. Still nothing. Any ideas?

The circuit that supplies your washer and dryer may also have an in-line GFI outlet which may have tripped. Even though you have cycled the circuit breaker you would also have to reset the GFI outlet as well. Good luck.

When we start the dryer the gfi trips. i have looked under the dryer and see no loose or broken wires

Could be your dryer breaker isn't big enough in terms of gfi use. If we use our washer with any other appliance, we trip the breaker, it's the wiring to the breaker box, the breaker can't support that much use, you might need to upgrade your breaker or wire it differently. Call an electrician to do it, if you mess up, you'll electrify yourself. Wow that was an old question, doesn't anyone use this site?

GE Profile Harmony washer won't power up and trips gfi

Did you replace the inverter board?? It is inside the tan plastic box in the bottom of the control panel I think on the right side. That controls the power supply to a good part of the machine and drive system. Has to be a direct short somewhere to trip the breaker.

My microwave is not heating

Are you sure you have power at the outlet? If not check your circut breaker box. You may have a GFI circut. The GFI outlets are very sensitive. They have reset button and test button. If other "non GFI" outlets are on the same cirute they are affected by the GFI outlet. The GFI outlets do fail at times, and need to be replaced. Have you had recent power outage? Sometimes our "smart devices" are too smart.
If you have power, I'd unplug for a few hours and see if that might reset it's "brain" If that doesn't help you may have a panel problem. Owner's manual? Check troubleshooting section. Warranty?, pursue that. Age of microwave? Consider the cost of repair vs. finding a lightly used "working" microwave.

Gas dryer pops circuit breaker

Number 1 Do NOT! use this dryer until it is fixed, it a a fire hazard. You will need to get the entire power circut checked for shorts. Make sure the motor has been checked under the same conditions as it is used in the dryer, with a capasitor and changing directions etc.

---------------------------------
NEVER EVER !!! Change a Circut breaker with a higher value than the one which is there. You will burn the house down. This is a serious fire risk. The power cables over heat and arc then burn, if the breaker is not right.

Wont start , The circut breaker tripped, when i restarted it, the dryer worked but not the washer

Hello. The dryer and the washer are on seperate breakers. Check all of the breakers by turning one all the way on, then all the way off, then all the way on again. Do one at a time.

Gfi installed yesterday on washer 120 v outlet. washer is maytag 3 years old and gfi began tripping during washcycle. can it be washer 3 pronged cord is not grounded at connection in rear of washer?...

The ground not being connected does not tirp thr gfi. The gfi senses the current between the two legs it will trip when the current returning to ground (neutral) exceeds 5mili amps. This is for personal protection. If you have a gfi circuit breaker disconnect the black wire from the breaker, if it does not trip you likely have a groung fault in the washer. If you have a dryer or other metal object that is grounded (Bonded) you may get a shock from it, also standing (barefoot) on a concrete floor may cause the same. ( bonded is a gronded conductor that attaches all metal parts of a electrical curcuit together) a hot lead goes to ground is a dead short and will trip any breaker.

GE XL44 Broiler/Self Clean Trips GFI

This should be a 220 volt appliance so I'm trying to figure how this was connected to a GFI. Does it have a second connection to power the controls?

Most GFI uints I have seen are not rated for large amounts of power consumption. I used to throw the one in my bathroom if I was running the electric heater and the wife fired up the hair dryer.

I'm wondering if this indeed does require the additional 110 connection then it sould be pulling heavy current from it to aid in the cleaning process. I've never seen a stove that needed the extra. My old electric range had only the 220 as well as my elders.

So if that is the case then you should not be running that through the GFI outlet because of the heavy drain will heat the breaker in the GFI and cause it to trip. Breakers actually work very similar to how the old fuses work. Heat causes the switch to throw. GFI units have a lower tolerance (designed to detect shorts quicker to save your life) and trip quicker than breakers do.

Both broken?

sounds like an electrical issue for sure, too coincidental that both would stop functioning at asime time, they are independent units and should work separately . i would check your breakers, perhaps it has partially tripped
