Question about Jenn-Air JES9860 Electric Kitchen Range

1 Answer

Cook top is working great but the oven controls do not respond and display is out. Sometime can get it to turn on with all four burners on but sometimes not. when it does work, once you shut off the burners, the display lights slowly dim and oven turns off. today, even if we turn on the burners, we get nothin.

What i dont understand is why it works sometimes and then slowly stops working. Like how you have to have burners on. how is that even related to the oven controls. if it is the clock or something like ive read on other posts, wouldnt it just go out at once and stay out?

    Thanks for your response!!

It would be slow and gradual. As i mentioned, it is a speculative solution. Obviously, you would read the clock voltage reading before you replace the clock. If you have 220 volts to the back of the unit where the wiring hooks up then you will need to replace the clock.

Check and let me know the reading and then we could proceed.

    Thanks!!

    Thanks for your response!!

You need to open the unit to repair it.

    Go to :-

    http://www.appliancepartspros.com/sears-...

Enter the model number and you would get the parts diagram.Keep all precautions as it is always dangerous to work on these appliances.

    Let me know,once done.

    Hope i helped you.

Stove burner gets red hot

Since you do not have a thermostat control on your burners, I would suspect you may have an infinite switch (burner control), that controls that particular burner, possibly starting to go bad. The thermostat control is located on the infinite switch itself and may be cycling on and off improperly. Its hard to tell with intermittent problems, however. If in doubt, you can do a comparison between a working 8" inch burner and the one you are having problems with.

Another thing to consider with these coil type plug in burners, the receptacles under the cook top that they plug into can gradually become loose over time and cause the burners to arc. This may also cause excess current flow through the burner and will eventually cause burner coil damage and/or receptacle failure. I would troubleshoot this by, first, by unplugging the appliance and inspecting all the burner receptacles. If any show signs of burning or melting, replace them. You will need to lift the cook top to access them. Locate the screws under the bottom front edge of the cook top (open the oven door to see them) and remove them. With the screws removed, the cook top will lift up. Prop in place using the hinge supports.

NOTE: Remove the burner coils and bowls before lifting the cook top.

Replacements parts (including burner receptacles) can be purchased at pcappliancerepair.com, appliancepartspro.com, searspartsdirect.com, or repairclinic.com.

If you have any questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

Top burner is stuck on and F1 showed on the display

Hi Krista,

Unfortunately, F1 is a fault code for a failed electronic control... it'll have to be replaced. The reason the burner is on is that the relay controlling it has welded closed allowing power to the burner full time.

If you choose to repair this yourself, could you provide the model number? That way, I could pull up schematics and stuff I need to further help you.

Your control will allow you to lock out the

To lock the controls:
Touch the 9 and 0 touch pads at the

control beeps twice. The display will
show LOC continuously and the time
of day if not blacked out.
NOTE: All cooking and timing functions will be
cancelled when locking out the control.
To unlock the control, touch the
9 and 0 touch pads at the same time

the display.
NOTE: Some models have a Control Lockout
pad. Touch and hold it for 3 seconds to
lock/unlock.
Gas/Control Lockout (on some models)
Your control will allow you to lock out the
surface burners, oven burners and control

The control lockout mode affects all

feature is activated.
The adjustment will be retained in memory
after a power failure.

Kitchen aid cook top gas. iginator consstantly firing with knoob off

strutz, you probabley got one of the valve switches wet when cleaning. It could of shorted out or it might be just wet. Pull the control knobs off the burners and take a hair dryer and go over the valves slowly. See if it stops the clicking. If not you will probabley have to change out one of the switches. Im not coming up with anything with the RGA365 model number. Try the above posted first...Catriver..post back.
