Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're having a problem with your DC27. A jammed wand is easy to rectify by following these simple steps:

  • Pull the wand up as far as it will go
  • Locate base of hose on rear of machine and pull hose away from the machine
  • Pull hose release tab, and pull the hose away from the machine to untwist it
  • Reattach hose to machine
You should untwisting the hose frees the wand, allowing unrestricted motion. However, if you're still experiencing difficulties, please get in touch with us free, on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US), so we can assist you.

Kind regards,

Jack

Try tapping the wand, (with the handle of a butter knife), around the part that is going into the machine. Try giving it a twist as you pull. Sometime all you have to do is break it loose. Once you do that, it should come right out.

How to release a stuck wand in a shark dust away rotator vacuum?

very difficult
it can be done if you have access to a vice
place the smaller wand section in the jaws so that it slips easily but the larger part is stopped by the vice jaws
a sharp pull will break the seal effect and it will pop apart.
if the wand is metal you can enlarge the outer part at the joint by applying heat carefully with a gas lighter for a few seconds and pulling apart

How do you disengage the wand, it is stuck? Can not pull it out.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC28. If you're having trouble removing the wand, the hose may have been twisted the last time you replaced the wand on the cleaner after use. To release it, try following these simple steps:
  • Pull up the wand as far as it will go
  • With the rear of the cleaner facing you, follow the hose down to its base, then stretch the loose section of hose away from the cleaner
  • Pull the hose release tab to detach the base of the hose from the cleaner
  • Allow the hose to untwist itself
  • Reattach the hose to the cleaner
You should find that by detaching the hose and allowing it to straighten itself, the wand is able to move freely. However, if you're unable to do this, please get in touch with us directly so we can help you further. You can call us free on 1866MYDYSON, or email askdysonUS@dyson.com. One of our experts will be happy to provide the assistance you need.

I have the dyson animal. There is something stuck in the wand tube and everyting is getting caught on it. There is very little suction from the wand. How do I get the wand apart or somehow get the object...

Yes, things stuck in vacuum hoses are not always as easy to remove as one might think. Trying to push it out with something can be counter-productive, and only get the thing stuck tighter! If you have a second vacuum, you can try sucking it out the way it came in (and risk getting it stuck in the other machine. Or you can try pulling it out, using a wooden stick with a small hook screwed in the end. If you try a piece of bent wire, you must be careful not to perforate the hose. Usually just requires a bit of ingenuity.

The metal attachement wand keeps getting stuck

This has been a major problem for all dysons. Spray a little furniture polish on the tube and it will slide in and out better.

Hose attachment

Your wand is getting stuck in the hose because the hose is twisted - you need to unwind it:

1) Pull the wand up as far as you can, all the way if possible
2) Stretch the hose out and unwind it, use some babypowder on the metal part of the wand and in the future, unwind and stretch the hose out after you use it

3) If you can't get the wand all the way out, remove the canister from the front, push the button where you see the 7 vertical grooves (on the opposite side of the hook that you wind the cable around) - then pull on the hook and pull the hose up and off of the machine - stretch the hose out from the bottom and pull the wand out - now apply baby powder to the metal rod and disconnect and stretch and unwind the hose every time after you used the wand to clean.

Dyson dc25 animal: cannot remove the telescope reach wand.

The hose is getting twisted on the machine and so the wand gets stuck in the hose.

1) Pull the wand out as far as you can - if you can pull it out completely, separate it from the hose and apply baby powder to the
metal rod. Stretch out the hose and unwind it. In the future, separate the wand and unwind/stretch the hose after use.
2) If you can't pull the wand out all the way, remove the canister/dirt bin from the front. Look for a gray button with 7 vertical
lines/grooves on it (it'll be just above the ball on the opposite side of the bottom hook that you wind the cable around).
3) Push the button and at the same time pull the hose out from the bottom by pulling on the hook - this will release the gray hose
from the machine. Take it off of the machine if possible (the bottom of the wand may stop you from doing so - if it does, try to pull
the wand out until you can release the hose from the bottom)
4) Pull and stretch the hose out and pull the wand at the same time - separate the wand from the hose and unwind the gray hose and
stretch it out. Rub baby powder on the metal rod of the wand and in future, disconnect the wand from the hose and stretch/unwind the
hose after every time you use the wand.

Hose Collapses When I Try to Use Wand

Hi Both.

Ok you have A blockage, Remove flexi hose completly from rear of machine & completly remove wand & handle from the hose.

Now check flexi hose for obstruction if none present move on to the wand & hanndle look down through tha wand for any obstruction look very carefully where the plastic handle meets alloy tube there is A slight bend here often A coin gets stuck here & flips accross to block oppening when you try to use wand.

If you cant see anything coin etc put hose back on machine & switch on there should be good suction from the flexi hose,
Now with machine still switched on push alloy pipe back on if the hose suddenly pulls back & there is poor or no suction you definately have A coin stuck at the bend.

You will need A broom handle or other long solid pole to hit it out.
