There should be a setting, most likely under advanced fax settings that is called Rings To Answer. That normally can be adjusted from one to seven rings.

SOURCE: i have the canon mx340...how

Here is the link to the manual for this model if you don't have one. You should just be able to hookup the phone line to the proper slot on the back of the printer ( in ), select fax mode on the panel, enter the phone number and hit go. Keep in mind that normal faxing is not possible if you have VoIP phone service (i.e. comcast or vonage) as those services do not provide a true dialtone to the printer. http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/printers_multifunction/pixma_mx_series/pixma_mx340#BrochuresAndManuals

I want to connect my fax from my cannon mx340 and dont have a instuction manuel can some help me?

Plug in the RJ-11 cable at the phone jack and the MX340. Press the Fax button and then the Menu button to get the Fax Settings menu. Press the left/right arrows to highlight Fax Receive Mode. Then press OK. Select Telephone Priority Mode (you will always pick up the handset and then put it down if the call is a fax. If an answering machine is connected the Fax will be automatically answered), Fax Priority Mode (the fax will be automatically received. If you hear the machine's ringtone, pick up the handset and press Stop to answer the call.), Fax only or DRPD (distinctive ring - available extra from your telephone company). Press OK to save the setting. If you choose DRPD, you will need to teach the distinctive ring by calling the MX340 after setting the machine to listen to the ring. (See the manual.) To fax out, press Fax, put your item to fax face up in the ADF and then dial the fax number of your receipient.

Canon has the manuals for the Pixma MX340 available here: http://usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/products/printers_multifunction/office_all_in_one_inkjet_printers/pixma_mx340?selectedName=BrochuresAndManuals#BrochuresAndManuals .

I hope this helps.

How do i send a fax?

Hi kimberley299,

To send fax using your Canon Pixma MX340 follow the steps below:

1. First, you need to hook up a phone line from the wall jack to the lower phone jack on the back of the PIXMA.

2. Now go into the menu and set your PIXMA to telephone priority mode (manual fax recieve), fax priority mode (auto fax receive) or distinctive (fax) ring/auto answer mode.

3. To send faxes, put your originals in the feeder or on the glass, select fax mode, enter the phone number, and press start.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Does the line from wall go where the phone picture is? On Canon MX340

That sounds right. Most machines also have a jack for an extension phone or answering machine. That would be marked EXT in most cases.
A quick test is to use it to call any other phone, even your cell phone. If your phone rings and squeals annoyingly when you answer it, you know the fax can call out.
Of course, to fully test it, you need another fax machine to call.

How to hook up cable phone to work fax and answering machine on a cannon Pixma mx340

From the wall your phone cable should go into the fax/printer. Then a phone cable should go from the printer to your phone.

There should be icons next to each jack on the back of the printer which indicates where to connect the cable.

It should work from there, but you might have to go to settings and set up the fax settings such as how many singals should it ring before the fax picks up the line.

How to recieve a fax on the Canon PIXMA MX340 Wireless Office All-in-One Printer

Take your incoming phone line and plug it into the place that says "line" on your fax machine. Plug another phone cord into where it says "phone" and connect this to your telephone. Test to make sure you have chosen the right places by dialing a phone number to fax to and listen for the dial tone. If you get a dial tone, then you have set it up correctly.

On the fax machine look for the button that says "menu". Push it and use the up and down arrows to navigate the options on the display. Look for fax set up and press "ok" or "enter" on the fax machines keyboard to access this area. Look for "number of rings" and change the fax machine to a number of rings that is less then your voice mail box if you have one. Then close and save your choices.

Have someone send a test fax by dialing your phone number for the line connected to the machine. The fax machine will pick up on the number of rings set and automatically begin receiving and printing a copy of your incoming fax.

You cannot use magic jack.

You can also choose to manually answer an incoming fax if you see that your display on the fax machine says "ringing" or incoming" you can push the "start" button and this will start receiving your incoming fax.
