Question about Samsung Refrigerators

1 Answer

I have a Samsung side by side RS267LASH. The refrigerator side is not cooling any longer. The panel seems to be working properly, the coil is getting cold but the internal cooling fan is not coming on. Is i likely it is the problem or are there other things I should be looking at, such as fuses, sensor, etc?

This particular unit has seperate coils. One for the freezer, One for the refrigerator. The refrigerator coil has a sensor mounted to the side of it. I will however check the heating unit but if you have any other ideas it would be appreciated.

Hi, there are many people that have this problem and are searching for answers as to what to do and what could be causing this problem. It seems to be weird that the freezer is working fine and the fridge side is not. Why would the coldest side be good and the warmer side not?

The answer to these questions lies in the way the freezer/fridge combo works. The freezer is where the cooling coils are located. Then air is moved over the coils and circulated through the fridge side by a small blower or fan. The problem arises when the air is not circulated for some reason.

The reasons the air is not moving is usually two reasons

  1. The fan or blower has failed.
  2. The coil is covered over with ice and blocks the air flow.

The first reason is pretty simple to fix, you simply replace the air circulator and things are good again.
The second reason can be more difficult.
1.The timing device that runs the defrost cycle of the refrigerator is defective.
2.The heater coil that melts the water is shorted or not working

Usually the first thing to check is the heater coil. If there is resistance through the coil then most likely it is still good.
The timing device can be an advanced defrost control board or a mechanical timing device.
If the heater coil checks out to be good then the problem should be the timer.

For most situations, unplugging the refrigerator and allowing it to defrost on it’s own will get you going temporarily, till parts can be shipped to you. That will melt the ice and give you a few days or a couple of weeks till it ices up to the point where it will not work again.

So you can see here, the problem can usually be traced to one of three things.
  1. The fan or blower
  2. The timer device
  3. The electric heater coil
By methodically checking these parts you can isolate your problem and fix it.

My samsung rs267lash, the coil inside the refrigerator section keep on freezing up also just under the fan and it's stoping the fan

Most likely the defrosting heating element has burnt out and needs to be replaced. I know it seems contradictory but modern refrigerators rely on a heating element cycling on a couple of times daily to keep the condenser core from freezing up.

I accidently left the freezer compartment partially open over night. Everything melted. Now that the door is properly shut it seems like it is not getting cold. How long would it take for the freezer to...

If the freezer empty it might take an hour. If there is product in the freezer it will take longer depending on how much is in there. If it does not cool down. Your evaporator coil may be iced up from trying to cool the freezer all night. To fix this problem just unplug the box and remove all the items from the freezer and leave the door open for a few hours to defrost the the coil. After this everything should be fine. I hope this helps you. Please leave feedback. Thank you.

My freezer remains cold at the proper temperature however the refrigerator is about 60 degrees. The fan is working in side the refrigerator. Sumsung Model# RS267LASH

That is way too warm for a refrigerator, those temps are unafe to keep food - it should be no warmer than 40F, and optimally 34F. For your freezer no warmer than 10F, optimal is 0F and colder.

If your freezer is within those temps, then your evap fan is working normally - you might want to have your damper checked - it is a flap that opens and closes as needed to circulate cold air to your refrigerator - if this damper is stuck and woN't open or open wide enough your refrigerator won't get the needed cooling.

You might want to check for leaky gaskets in your door.

Model #RS267LASH fridge is not cooling but freezer side is. What could be the problem with this Samsung? Thanks,

If your RS267LASH refridgerator is not cooling it is because it is not defrosting. In order to fix it they will have to take it into the shop to cut into the copper wiring, remove the freon and change out the probe inside. The parts and labor are covered under warranty for 5 years. This was the last thing done to mine after changing out the board, a fan, and a thermocouple.

The refrigerator portion has quit cooling.

I have the same problem and have found that if you take the panel off inside the refrigerator and with a blow dryer defrost it. It should work for a few weeks. I have been doing this once a month since March and I hope to found out how to fix it also.

Fridge not keeping cool RS267LASH

Hi Adshegern,

I think you have a fan problem. Your refrigerator mus have a bad fan or not working fan. I suggest you full out the refrigerator and open back lower cover. Two months ago, I have a problem like your. I fixed by replace a fan. You have to options to fix it.

Option 1. Check your refrigerator's fan with voltage. It think it should be 120VAC. If yes, you can buy a fan from electronics store (it cost about $12.00 to $17.00). they you remove the old fan and its motor out. Install the new fan in. Then you need to drill 4 holes to tie the fan. By doing this, you keep the fan running stable. The fan won't vibrate.

Option 2. You can go online to this website partstore.com and buy an exactly the one you need and replace the old one. It cost about $40.00.

Good luck

Leaking water

Hi, When your fridge does a defrost cycle, the water is drained down the back..into a storage pan where it will evaporate. In your case the pan is missing or not flat...or the drain line is plugged. You will need to move the fridge from the wall, and open the bottom pannel in the back. There you should see the problem. While you are there it is a good time to vacuum and /or blow of the cooling coils for best efficiency. (I use a shop vac, which can also blow air)
