Question about American Standard Colony Hydro Massage Bathtub Only AME

It appears that one of the jets is leaking. How do I fix that? I only have a model number on the pump, if that helps. it's 2770018020. The tub is about 8 years old and has two side jets on either side and two at the back. The intake is on the right side, if you're in the tub looking towards the drain.

Hi,

One of the quick ways to fix leaks at jets is by using Millaput two putty resins mixed and worked round the outside of the defective jet.

f there is a threaded nut on the back of the jet, undo the nut as much as possible and push the jet out into the tub. Spread aquarium grade silicone around the jet and push back into the hole, put more silicone in front of the nut, you may have to spread it in the small area with your finger or if you can squirt it in from the tube of silicone. If there is no threaded ring on the backside of the jet, go to the jet in the tub and looking down on the jet, turn it to the right. It should pop and pull out of the housing. There will be a retaining ring that may require a special tool to remove it, once the ring is out, clean it very well, spread silicon on the threads and the lip. Reinstall in the hole, reinstall jet wait 24 hours and fill and test for leaks. Take you time and you will not have to do it over again. Check where the leak is coming from, sometimes there is a hairline crack in the jet assembly, if this is the case, make sure the area is dry then use a 2 part epoxy for plastic (from lowes or home depot) and smear this all over and around the crack, let dry 24 hours, fill and test.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

I have a jacuzzi whirlpool tub in my home that has started to leak at the three button control panel. Flooded out the bathroom so I cut a hole in the tile surround and when the pump is running it leak

First thing you need to do is remove some skirting so you can actually see where the water is coming from.
The 3 position control panel would only leak if the water was above it or covering it if it is located in the wall of the tub. That solution would only require the bather to NOT fill the tub quite so full.
IF however the water is coming from another location then that will be noticeable when you are checking for the water leak.

Tub Seal

If the washer is leaking water the tub seal might have a tear or rip and is letting water leak past. The tub seal can be replaced. When the tub seal fails water gets into the tub bearings and usually causes the bearings to go bad also. It is a good idea to replace the tub bearings with the new tub seal.

Tub to Pump Hose

If the washer is leaking water the hose from the tub to the pump might be split or torn. Don't try to cut off the bad piece of hose and stretch it to fit the pump, this will put strain on the remainder of the hose and may cause a sudden and complete failure of the hose which will dump potentially hundreds or thousands of gallons of water onto the floor because the next time the washer tries to fill all of the water will end up on the floor and so the washer will never shut off the valve. Any time there is a damaged hose, replace it completely with the OEM part.

Washing Machine Fill Hose

If the washer is leaking water, check the fill hoses on the back of the washer, this is the most common place for water to leak. If the washer still has the original black rubber fill hoses replace them with stainless steel or some other, more durable hose.

Drain Hose

If the washer is leaking water check the drain hose. The most common places for the hose to spring a leak is from the connection to the pump out to the back of the washer. Another common occurrence is when the washer gets pushed too far back against the wall.

Leaking jacuzzi jet

The workings of a bath jet...From the inside of the Bath there is a wall fitting that threads from the inside of the tub into the jet body located on the outside wall of the tub.
If the jet is leaking at this point behind the tub then you should take the wall fitting out of the tub and put a small bead of 100% RTV silicone around the flange of the wall fitting and reinstall it.
If however, the leak is from the PVC piping going into the jet then you will need to replace the jet.

Hot tub is leaking

How severe is the leak?
Is the water level dropping when the tub is not in use? If so you will need inspect the back (inside the tub) portion of each jet. There is a gasket and nut on the backside of each jet body, these may come loose for crack.
If your leak is only when you have the pump running, your leak could be on the suction or discharge side of the pump. Only leaking when there is water pressure.
A temporary fix is Fix-A-Leak - a water treatment that will temporarily repair any crack up to 1/8". Its no guarantee but might help.

Jetted tub is on 2nd floor over kitchen. when jets are on water comes thru kitchen light fixture! Help!

First find access to tub,by code there needs to be access to pump motor, either built into wall or various tubs front skirt is removeable.Fill tub and run to visibly see leak, sounds like bearing assembly gaskets are leaking on pump, could possibly be a jet connection, but if it only does while running its the pump or motor assembly.Hope that helps,in the future make sure water is always above suction intakes or can lead to premature burnout of pump

My Whirlpool tub works, except when water goes above jets it is leaking for the motor. Local plummer would not fix it. HELP Thank you

you probably have a jet that is broken. Sounds to me like if the water gets above a certain level the water starts to leak then that is what it tends to be. pumps will leak water when they turn on if the seal inside the pump is worn out.

Leaky pump on jetted tub

You might just need to tighten the bolts. If that doesn't fix it you can dismantle it and replace the O-ring. Be sure to lightly coat the new ring with silicone grease before installing it. A pool supply store should be able to help you with the right part.

Lasco whirlpool tub leaks. Water runs out on

Sorry, the tub will have to pulled out to find out what is leaking so it can be fixed. There is just no other way UNLESS you can open up the wall on the blind side of the tube. (but its probably and exterior wall...if the house is vinyl sided, it can be done. If brick, you'll have to pull the tub). If you just wanted to convert to a tub only, maybe Bathfitters has an insert solution...

Leaks from jets along outer wall

This is a hard fix, The jets are glued on to the back of the tub with an epoxy type material. the jets should spin on and off from the inside of the tub. You need to determine if it is the hole where the jet is that's leaking or if it is the jet assembly and tubing that is leaking. If it is the jet hole that is leaking, spin the jet off and use aquarium grade silicone (Lowes carries it)
spread this around the piece sticking thru the tub and spin the jet back on. This is a hit or miss fix. No easy fix if it is the tubes or jet assembly, full access necessary for this repair.
