Where can we find thermocouple for adru richelieu fireplace?

I apologize I do not recognize the brand but since a month has passed without an answer I can tell you we have often had to find a replacement without being able to go through a manufacturer. For a fireplace we would need you to upload pictures of the control valve because it is very common for a fireplace valve to have a thermopile and not a thermocouple. If the valve has a battery pack or a electrical plug then the chances are that you have a thermocouple but if there is not an external power source the flame is probably heating a thermopile in order to generate the power needed for the controls.
If that is the case you would need to physically bring it to a shop to be tested for the proper amount of power needed because thermopiles can have a tremendous range.

Gas fireplace will not light up

If it has a pilot light, (website says it does) I suspect its the thermocouple. These are easy to change yourself and cheap, you can buy a universal thermocouple and it will be cheaper than a Napolean one. The end of the thermocouple is a fat copper pin that sits poking into a small pilot flame. The heat of the flame on the copper tells the system that the gas is burning ok so it allows more gas through. But after a few years the copper end gets covered in black charring and this slightly insulates it from the heat, so it signals to turn off the gas.

Pilot light wont stay lit on gas logs

If the pilot lite comes on, but will not stay on after it has had enough time to heat the thermocouple, you got a bad or the wrong thermocouple. It does take some time to heat that thermocouple.

Napolean fireplace burner wont light

If your pilot is running fine, but your burner will not light:
  • You may have a bad thermopile.
  • There may be blockage in the burner orifice.
You can test the voltage of the thermopile per your owner's manual (replace if necessary).
You can clean out the burner orifice with some compressed air.

We have not turned the heater on since 2010. it is a gas with fake logs.A rennai flame fire inbuilt standards. Husband says the thermacouple is not working? what do you recommend?

Stephanie, I 'm not sure how it was determined, that your direct-vent gas fireplace needs a Thermocouple? As a dirty pilot light will also mimic a faulty thermocouple. In addition, if the fire hasn't been used since Winter of last tear, and the gas line to the unit has been turned OFF since then, the air in the gas line must be purge, before the Pilot will light and hold.

If all of the above can safely be ruled out, then the thermocouple should be replaced. The facing of the fireplace will have to be removed, to access the Thermocouple.and it's connections to the gas control valve. You didn't mention which Rinnai Gas Fireplace you have, but most if their units, use Thermocouple part # 90193475. If you're going to replace it, it would be a good idea to also replace the Thermocouple Retainer, part # 9377.

I hope this helps you to further troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

Try cleaning the thermocouple with sandpaper or wirebrush. Sometimes it gets dirty and doesn't sense the flame.

I have a Marco Natural Gas Direct Vent Fireplace that you turn on with a wall switch. Lately it will not light when the switch is turned on, this happens about 50% of the time. It is not the switch because...

The only thing a fireplace like your has that could be faulty is the thermocouple or safety switch on the gas valve.

A thermocouple is a likely suspect. Look in your manual for a part number and buy a replacement. Cleaning the old one might work too if it is heavily coated with carbon.
