Hi,
This is problem of DMD chip that generates picture/ image in this tv and DMD chip is not available separately so complete light engine will be replaced to fix this issue. It is bit costly fix.
Click Discount-Merchant link to view light engine images and they offer required light engine for $330 and local tv repairman will help you to replace it because it needs expertise and skills.
Hope these info will help you.
Thanks.

Yes, it might be light engine but I will clean front screen from inside and light engine final big lens to make sure it is not dust particles

You need to remove front beznet assembly (front cabinet) that holds front screen of tv by removing screws at rear sides of tv, once front screen part came off, you can clean front screen internal side with soft cotton clot, clean rear projection mirror mounted at internal back side of tv and optical output lens as it would be visible easily.
Put front screen back in its place, replug tv and turn it On to check black spot.

Hi,

You replace the lamp and the picture came back bright and clear, then the spot appeared after a few hours, then did you replace the lamp again? or are you still using the first replacement. If it is the first replacement lamp, I would suggest you remove the lamp and inspect its lens and reflector for any signs of spotting that would cause a dark spot. Also look to see if there is another lens that the lamp shines through inside the lamp housing. Make sure you do not touch the lamp glass or any glass lens inside the lamp housing with your bare fingers. The oil from your skin can cause lens spotting or premature failure due to hot spots. You should use clean gloves when you handle the lamp. If you do happen to get something on the glass, clean it with rubbing alcohol.

Do you still have the original, if so, maybe reinstall it and see if you can make out any signs of the dark spot maybe that will give you an idea if it is the new lamp or not. Also it doesn't take much of a defect on the lamp to cause a visible affect. make sure you closely inspect the lamp module. One other thing is the light path after it leaves the projector unit, there could be an obstruction on the final mirror or back of the screen itself. Just a few more thoughts.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

I just replaced bulb with new and after a day there is a dark spot on the screen

I have the same TV - I have a dark spot in the upper left hand corner. I have always thought this TV was dark. Be sure to get OME lamp. Cheaper ones are not worth it and can damage your TV more.
dlplampsource,com--Just a note if this ever happens to you. TV would not come on in the AM-Had no picture, but had sound. It was not the lamp, but the safety switch. It's blue and at the bottom of the lamp housing. As soon as I flipped it and replaced the back cover, the TV came on.

I have toshiba 50hm67 replaced lamp...tv worked, then quit working again, and giving blinking yellow lamp error light when turn on...after a few moments tv tries to turn off and back on

OK. I have this same issue. I replaced my bulb a month or so ago. TV worked fine. Then one morning I turned it on and it was on for a good while, till it went to a black screen w/ sound only. Lights were going through the reboot process as designed for 8 attempts before it went to the solid red light. From the red light, if I unplug and plug back in, the tv will come on for a given amount of time, which varies, and then cut to the black screen. A repairman told me that it sounds like the digital board is bad. He wanted $150 for the board and $100 labor. I cannot find anywhere where the board would be located or where I can purchase a replacement.

I recently replaced the lamp bulb...it worked for a day and now I have sound and no picture and when you turn the tv on I get red flashing lights...and the after they are done flashing the light is blue.

You could have gotten a defective lamp. Try another lamp. Since you have a Toshiba youll be using it even if you don't need it now. Toshibas have short lamp life. If lamp does not fix then the light engine will have to be removed and sent to Toshiba to be rebuilt. They are no longer available.

Recently replaced blown lamp for 50HM67 50 inch tv. Now have picture but clarity is off. Picture / screen words are very blurry. Toshiba referred a local repair company who mentioned that the problem...

If the picture was good before the lamp blew, there might be dust/splatter on the window in front of the lamp. Pull out the lamp assembly and look at the small square glass window that the light shines into. It should be clear and clean. If it is not, clean it gently with isoprophonol alcohol or screen cleaner.
By the way, there is no such thing as convergence adjustment on DLP TVs.
