How to set a toshiba hard drive to slave?

Power off the Toshiba laptop. Remove the power cord and the battery.

Turn the laptop upside down and remove the panel where the hard drive goes with a screwdriver.

Depending on the model of Toshiba laptop being worked on, this may include the entire bottom panel, a panel covering both hard drive slots or a panel covering the empty second slave hard drive slot.

Install the second hard drive by inserting it into the open slot.

Replace the opened cover.

Replace the battery and power cord.

Turn on the computer.

The second hard drive is automatically configured as the slave drive.

Depending on the operating system and previous status of the slave hard drive, it may need to be partitioned or formatted before being used by the operating system.

My seagate external hard drive cable cannot be connected to the external hard drive. the mechanism to hold the cable has loosen and is now inside the hard drive. What can I do?

You can unplug all wires from it.
Remove the screws which hold the chassis (cover) and remove the cover to access the hard drive inside.
Once the cover is off, you can see the connector inside and repair it back the way it was.
Replace the cover and screws and you are done.

The hard drive cover is located at the base of the computer. To replace the hard drive:

1. Prepare the computer for disassembly, turn it off, disconnect power adapter and remove main battery.
2. Loosen the two Phillips PM2.5×5.0 captive screws that secure the hard drive cover to the computer.(see pic.1)
3. Lift the rear edge of the hard drive cover , and then swing it up and forward and remove it.
4. Slide the hard drive to the right, and then lift the hard drive from the hard drive bay.(pic 2)
5. Do operations in reverse order to install the new hard drive.

How do i remove my hard drive on my ps3 unit?

If it is an older type PS3 (Phat) on the left hand side of the console there is a small plastic cover. Using a small flat blade screwdriver, carefully prise one end of the cover outwards. There is a small cut-out on one end where the screwdriver goes. When you have this cover removed you will see a blue cross head screw. Remove this screw. You will also see a small wire clip that is attached to the side of the hard drive caddy. Pull this clip outwards. Carefully take hold of the clip and slide the hard drive towards the front of the console. The hard drive will then come out of the side of the console.
If you have a PS3 Slim the procedure is slightly different. On the bottom of the console there is a small flip out cover. Carefully remove this cover and there will be a blue cross head screw. Remove the screw. Now look below the slot where you put your discs. There is another plastic cover. Slide this to the right and remove it. Behind that cover is your hard drive. Flip the metal clip down and pull the hard drive out.

Hope this helps!
