Question about Frigidaire Gallery Series GLHS269ZDB 36" 26.0 Cu. Ft. Side-by-Side Refrigerator w/ 7 Button Dispense...

1 Answer

#GLHS35E4SB6 Frigidaire side by side. evaporator motor area becomes extremely noisy and eventually shuts off. The fan could be floating on the motor shaft and engaging the shroud. Apparently the motor has a thermal switch that turns off the motor. Disconnecting unit then reapplying power later it works for a period of time then it starts all of again. A repair man has replaced both the motor and the fan twice and within a couple of weeks the problem reoccurs. The unit is only 1 1/2 years old. Since the new motor and fan did not solve the problem it is either defective parts or a design problem. Do you have a solution.

didn't work. It just starting making a loud noise again and we have not had the doors open or put hot food in. If we turn if off for awhile and then on again it runs okay again. It has been good for 2 months and then just 2 weeks and then just a week or so. Evaporative fan and motor replaced twice. I am talking snow blower noise when it is really bad. this has been going on for 3 months and 4 service calls. Twice having to empty the contents and get it stored at a neighbors.

I have a side by side whirlpool fridge and the freezer is fine but the fridge is now freezing everything. It's about 11 years old.

Since you stand to loose all the food I would call a service tech ASAP. But here are the most common reasons for the problem you have.
Cause 1
The Evaporator Coils are Frosted Over The defrost heater assembly turns on a few times throughout the day to melt away any frost that may have accumulated on the evaporator coils. If the defrost heater assembly is defective, frost will continue to accumulate on the evaporator coils, and the coils will become plugged with frost. If the evaporator coils are frosted over, the airflow through the coils will be restricted, causing the refrigerator not to cool. Check the evaporator coils to determine if they are frosted over. If the evaporator coils are frosted over, test each component of the defrost system.
Cause 2
Evaporator Fan Motor The evaporator fan motor draws cold air over the evaporator coils and circulates it throughout the freezer. If the evaporator fan is not working, the freezer or refrigerator will not cool adequately. To determine if the evaporator fan motor is defective, try turning the fan blade by hand. If the fan blade does not turn freely, replace the fan motor. Additionally, if the motor is unusually noisy, replace it. Finally, if the motor does not run at all, use a multimeter to test the motor windings for continuity. If the windings do not have continuity, replace the evaporator fan motor..
Cause 3
Damper Control Assembly The air damper control opens and closes to let the proper amount of cold air into the refrigerator compartment. If the damper does not open properly, it won't let enough cold air into the refrigerator. Check the damper control to determine if it is broken or stuck closed.

How to fix a noisy evaporator fan in a frost free refrigerator

The ice usually makes a fan noisy by filling the cavity it needs to move the blades in. check if this is the case, if there is no obstruction and the fan motor itself is noisy it needs to be replaced or serviced, servicing parts is trickier to find than the little motor it self.
To clear the ice just let the fridge stand for a few hours and to help the process speed up you can spray the evaporator with luke warm water.

Working but extremely noisy freezer

most likely noise is coming from evaporator fan motor.go here,it will show you the parts in your model,
http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Frigidaire-Parts/Freezer-Parts/Model-PLFU1778ES0/1428/0142000/R0510085/00002?blt=06&prst=&shdMod=
unplug the freezer, remove shelves and remove back inside wall to get at the fan motor.you might see yellow stains around motor area, that's from the oil that leaked out of fan motor, also if noise stops and you notice that the freezer is cold on bottom and warm on top the fan motor died and needs to be replaced right away.hope this helps and you should change the motor out before you loose any food.

1st water dispenser not working now EF code

EF code on a Frigidaire refrigerator means Evaporator Fan problem. The motherboard on the FGHC2345LF can be sensing a problem with your evaporator fan. The fan could be failing so I advise that you keep an eye on the evaporator fan. All cooling will stop if this fan fails. I believe you are having two unrelated issues. is possibly becoming defective and not allowing water to dispense.

After power outage the fridge was displaying codes SY and EF I have Frigidaire model number FGHS2365KF1. Any thoughts?????

Hi.

SY: Defective evaporator system. Check evaporator fan, thermostat and heater.

EF: Evaporator Fan defective. Test and eventually replace the evaporator fan.

The problem is likely the evaporator fan. Before replacing the fan test the other parts comprised in the evaporator system.

Here a tip explaining how to test such parts with a similar fridge model: Fridge not cooling. Procedure is more or less the same with your model.

Here parts and diagrams for your model.

Generally you can find parts and diagrams for most appliances using the links listed on this page:

My refrigerator is making a weird sound almost like like a fan whirling loud sound

Good day,
It is not uncommon for the evaporator fan motor to become noisy. It's accessed by removing the rear panel in the freezer section. Replacing it is not difficult. Just ordinary hand tools will do.
The motor should be available at any decent sized appliance parts house.
Take your model number with you if you don't take the motor itself, and it is wise to replace the blade at the same time.

My LG ice maker fan is making a really loud noise right after the water stops going in

Hello, Self-defrosting refrigerators use a circulating fan to move air through the freezer and refrigerator compartment. This fan runs when ever the unit is cooling. The fan is located in the freezer, as follows:
  • If the freezer is on top, the fan is on the back wall, near the top or bottom, in the center of the freezer.
  • If the freezer is on the bottom, the fan is on the back wall, near the top of the freezer.
  • If the freezer is on the left, the fan is on the back wall, half way up or near the top.
Overtime the fan may become noisy, usually making a chirping or squealing sound, though it may make a loud groaning noise instead.
To find out if the fan is causing the noise, just open the freezer door and push in any fan/light switches, if the noise is louder when the door is open, the evaporator fan motor is the cause. You can lubricate or repair this motor. You must replace it.
There are three components on the outside back of the refrigerator that may become noisy: the compressor, the condenser fan motor(if self-defrosting), or the defrost timer (if self-defrosting).
Thanks

Does not get cold

I'm not sure if you mean it's not getting cold enough or dot at all.
The most common fridge "not cooling" problem is a frost free failure. Remove the access panel in the freezer section to expose the evaporator coils. If the coils in the freezer section get plugged up with frost this frost will block the evaporator fan motor from blowing the cold air around. The fan blade can also hit this frost and either become noisy or stop altogether. If there is a lot of build up then the defrost timer may need to be replaced.
Most of the time the evaporator coils and fan are located behind panels in the freezer section. These are usually easy to remove. The defrost timer is a different story and may require the help of a service person.
Hope this helps.

Noisy Motor

The compressor is normally pretty quiet, more of a deep hum so the noise is probably coming from either the fan that circulates air inside or the one that pusshes or pulls air through the evaporator coils under the cabinet. Probably has Chinese fan motors by now -
