The easiest way is with an impact tool. It will spin the nut faster than the shaft can spin and will remove it very quickly. If you do not have an impact tool, then you will need to stop the shaft from turning. Put a large clamp onto the under side of the deck and then rotate the blade around against it. This will stop the shaft from turning while you remove the nut. If you have already removed the spindle assembly from the deck, you will have to clamp the lower end of the shaft in a vise to be able to remove the nut. It should be a standard threaded nut, which will remove when turned counter-clockwise.
Good luck!

How to remove front axle on 1999 saab 1999

TO loosen of the idler pulley it is essential that the pulley nut first be loosed off to allow the shaft to be moved . The allen head screw unless it is seized up(rusted) will move freely once the pulley nut is loosened. Before you go to extremes consider other alternatives .--removing the pulley off the shaft ( cut the belt to achieve this) see if there is room to attach vice grips in the head of the screw . If you have space ,drive an allen key slightly larger into the hole. (SAE instead of metric). The absolute thing I would use is a torch in that area as you could wind up burning harness wires or setting fire to the vehicle. If the screw head is in an awkward spot remember that longer bars /extensions may make the job easier.

The drive belt on my husqvarna yth20k46 is off at the pulley above the transmission. How do I get it back on? Do I have to remove the nut at the transmission shaft?

I would remove the nut and pulley. Get belt top of pulley. Start the edge of belt in broove on pully and run it around. You get easyer belt in pulley and install it. May have pull little against spring.

How do I change the serpentine belt on a 1998 Buick LeSabre, 3.8

My friend;
Try this;
  1. Check the belt pulley may have attaching tension bolts (Nuts), etc.
  2. Loose the belt pulley attaching tension bolts (Nuts), etc.
  3. Normally there are three bolts & or nuts u need to loose to allow u swivel the pulley side way.
  4. Once loose, swivel the pulley side way.
  5. Mostly, you don't have to remove the bolts & or nuts completely.
  6. You may need to remove other serpentine belt to reach the power steering belt.
  7. Removing those other belts work same as the power steering belts or other belts.

Where is the tensioner release on 04 F250?

Depends on what engine sometimes but you should see a pulley with spring loaded arm pushing against the belt. That arm will probably have a 1/2" socket drive cut into it, or just a nut in center to pull/push on to relieve tension. Pretty strong spring so it takes a little grunt to get it to move.

I have a Whirlpool Duet HT washer [12-4-2003] and I'm on my 3rd pulley and 4th belt. I am convinced This is a inherent design flaw. I've used Loc-Tite and the nut loosened, but the last time I used gorrilla glue. The nut didn't come loose but the pulley failed and now I need giant vice grips or I may have to cut the nut off with my Dremmel. My hypothesis is when the drum is overloaded it puts stress on the shaft/pulley connection and the softer metal gives way. Over time the key becomes rounded and the pulley starts to wobble, thus leading to belt failure. My next version. Im considering drilling into the shaft and installing a cotter pin to keep the nut from backing off. Either way the problem originates with the pulley design.
PS. I will never buy another whirlpool product. 070498b6-8a05-400f-aab6-d2f7fbf10685.jpg

Whirlpool GHW9100LW1, belt came off

I had the same problem and being a procrastinator, I waited until the belt came off before launching a full scale investigation into the knocking noise it had been making for about a year. Here is what I found and below that is my no guarantees fix.....
I removed the nut and pulled the tub pulley off. I noticed the tub shaft has a "shoulder bolt" and the pulley could not be tightened onto the shoulder bolt with enough squeeze to keep the tub pulley from wobbling. Tolerance issue... maybe? I decided to measure the keyed tub shaft with calipers and found the thickest part of the shaft to be 1" ish. The Shaft is part of the tub bearing assembly (from my observation) and the tub shaft is part of the tub bearing which measured 1 1/4" diameter. I found a washer that was 1" inside diameter and 1 1/4" outside diameter and placed it over the tub shaft behind the tub pulley. I tightened the nut snugly and reinstalled the belt. Ahhhhh, quiet operation and no more wobble. I will let you know if it causes another problem but from what I can tell.... replacing the tub pulley with another of the same dimensions will not work.

you don't need a very thick washer(my washer is too thick (.1"ish) so I will replace it soon(yeah right) with 1/32" or maybe 1/16"...I used rubber but I think steel or brass or what ever would probably work too.

Purists will tell you that the lock nut should be replaced, or if you don't use the permanent thread locker you could use loctite.

Hope that helps.
